• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I'm sort of making this in a rush sorry. I'm just kinda freaking out right now.

The background is that she's 18 years old going on 19, has kidney disease and now has heart problems. She takes special food and heart medicine now and she's peed blood on more than one occassion. I can't afford to take care of her anymore and I don't think anyone else will take her off me. If I had the money and was more mentally stable, maybe. Even if I don't kill myself I'm probably going to be homeless. I don't want to seem cruel to the cat but I can't take care of her anymore and I don't want my family to. (My mom is developing dementia and my brother just won't take her.)

Extreme Pain is much worse than people know

cats and other animals can't tell you how much pain they are in. they seem to have many diseases as humans do as they get old. life is just tremendous suffering for any sentient animal, even domestic cats and dogs . all animals get old and suffer especially humans which are animals and humans can't get Nembutal but cats and dogs some of them can. suffering gets much worse in old age for any animal including humans.

i worked in a nursing home. very old age usually unimaginable torture. sure there might be a few exceptions and those are the ones they trot out , like the supposed suicide regretters and the shotgun failures ( almost all don't fail) .

i would like someone to help me kill myself but they made assisting someone else a crime . so i have to kill these monstrous cells they call a human body i'm trapped in soon

DNA based life is a horrible curse

Do you have an animal hospital nearby? They may be able to give a second opinion on if the cat has any current quality of life and what to do if not. They may also be able to rehome her if they decide that she has some good years life.

I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this; it seems like you have too much on your shoulders. đź«‚

Are you unable to find another? Your vet just seems odd. I know vets that will even euthanize perfectly healthy animals because they fear that some owners will *ahem* take matters into their own hands if they don't.

It shouldn't be hard to find a vet that will euthanize a 19 year old cat. I don't think it's cruel to euthanize an elderly cat with health problems. Unlike humans, cats can't grasp that they have health problems or think about broad concepts like enduring them so they can enjoy life. They just know they're in pain.

What did the vet tell you
She wanted to do her bloodwork first, and then sent me an email with facts that I already knew, except maybe for the fact her blood pressure has gotten worse. I'm actually really frustrated, because for a long time even I didn't want her put down because I wanted her to have a natural death but now I feel like I'm prolonging her problems. Everyone else has even told me it's time for her to go and I mostly feel foggish and angry.

A second opinion from a different vet might yield different results. Almost 19 is pretty darn old for a cat. She has to be having some pain with her conditions.

She sounds like she's out for money. Most vets would euthanize a 19 year old cat with no questions asked. Are there any other vets in your area?
