Whatever happens, I wish you the best. I think personally I would only choose to ctb if I had no doubts and I was certain about my decision. At least you have a way to exit this life, if that is what you decide to do.

i don't know. it's 2:26 am here. i know between me and death is take the sn now. listening to suicide music of music which encourages death, etc. i don't work, etc. so i have no concept of time. life is one big game. ok. will give my profs the phd thesis maybe thursday. and i know it will go fine. they are friendly, etc. ..., oh, i'm old. 47. no wife. had bad experience with a woman. have a girl kid. i need sincerere advice. some peoplle out there understand where i'm coming from.

Dude as someone who has lost a parent. Don't do it for ur kid. It really hurts. U have no idea. U may think or rationalize that they might be better off, but it's false and ur thinking it from your perspective. Dude it doesn't matter what age u are, ur getting a phd! That's awesome!
As for women, there are good ones out there and I'm sure if u put ur self out here u will find someone. Just don't rush it. The only problem in your life that I see is your self image. Ur awesome! Ur getting a phd, have your health, and a daughter. That's more than most people here.

I don't know about the dog part. If you can't take care of yourself and are considering ctb, I don't think you should commit to getting a dog

student, i dont know if you will see this ..., but will a dog help?. today, some stray dogs decided to follow me for no reason, i chased them away.. you must understand i don't live in europe, usa, etc. we live on the same planet, but .....
Idk where u live but everywhere in this world, life is made better by having a dog companion to be with u everywhere, sleep and eat with u, and to love you when your down. I would suggest a young female puppy so u can train her. I would say get a rescue but idk where u are and if ur talking about strays idk could be good or bad.
U won't regret it. Or I can haunt me about it later over a beer in heaven.
It sounds like you have a lot going for you and that it is worth it to keep going though getting some more support from family and friends could help. as far as girls go, money matters but to some girls it means less especially if there is a sign that down the road it will be better.
Perhaps he should see a therapist first if he's lost in life. A dog is a big commitment. If he isn't happy with himself, I doubt a dog is gonna help
