Idk I've been drinking so here's a vent.

I want to feel better. I know many people have had bad experiences with phych wards/general NHS mental health but I just don't know what to do. I got to a point where I don't WANT to ctb but I want to try anything that might make me feel better. I've tried 200mg of sertraline and didn't feel any different to 50. Idk what to do but I don't want to be left with no option anymore. Appreciate all responses. I want to be in recovery but just don't know how to start.

I assume you are already viewing a psychiatrist. Just be honest enough and hope that they might talk about putting you on different SSRI's or MAOI's.

You can also try to sign up for experimental treatment such as Trans-Cranial Magnetic Stimulation. There are many drug companies wanting participants for clinical trials. To find some, you can go to clinicaltrials.gov and search up your local area with key-tags relating to whatever condition you suffer from.

If you are truly out of options, the illegal but effective route is to take psilocybin mushrooms. These have shown promising results in the lab with equivalent to superior efficacy to antidepressants. You can search up more on the PsychonautWiki and Erowid for safety information on these drugs and the associated risks. I cannot help you with supplies as that would both be illegal and against site rules, but all I'll say is that in the UK spores of these mushrooms by themselves DO NOT count as illegal substances, growing them is however the illegal part.

Last week i started the "couch to 5k" thing. Its basically how to start running from zero to 5 km in 9 weeks. The NHS has an app for that, but it's region locked to the UK (I'm outside and had to do some tricks to get it). The app is helpful, you can pick between multiple trainer voices and they tell you when when you should run or walk while you exercise, you can have music playing during that time and it just gives reminders.
They have the links to the Google play and the app store on this page

Some people claim running helps to deal with depression, so I'm giving it a try. Give it a try, it's free.

keep trying new medications giving each one or combo twelve weeks. Weirdly people can find different meds work for them even in the same class. Eg sertraline is an SSRI but you might find another SSRI is better for you.

You could look into adding some l-tryptophan to your medication. Just a little.

My medication has in recent years helped somewhat. But sole people feel a lot better when they fibd the right one.

You have your typical SSRIS like sertaline, escitolopram oxalate and fluoxetine. Then there are SNRIS like venlafaxine .There are NDRI antidepressants like bupropion .If they don't work then the doctor might prescribe tricyclic antidepressants or combine antidepressants or maybe give them with antipsychotics.
You can also go for ketamine infusion therapy if it is available .Some drugs based on magic mushrooms are going to be hitting the market soon which are said to be effective.
Also transcranial magnetic stimulation is another option.
Antidepressants usually take a lot of time to show their effectiveness (usually I think it is 6 weeks) and combine this with the fact that finding the right combination for you would take some time.So you have to be patient

What can make me feel better are the basics (diet, sleep, exercise, meditation, etc).
