Okay I just need to know few things. i've decided charcoal method, just because of how much research i done and my plan. But idk if I got everything, i've read the mega thread and all that. Should i go to my dads cabin and tape the vents in the bathroom? I got a portable grill and a chimney starter, newspaper, charcoal, a lighter, so i hope i got everything. i wanna try to do it tomorrow , im just trying to make sure this will be my final attempt. also, does anyone know how i can test co levels without meter? i tried so hard to find one today and could not for the life of me, for some reason??? imma try again tomorrow since i gotta drive a few hrs so another town might have them but just in case? does anyone know step by step of how to do this all so i can be more confident in it all?
It is better to buy co meter as it is cheap
Charcoal depends on the size of your place but it is inexpensive
Another member plan use it as a reference
Items to Bring:
1 Person Tent
8-pound bag of charcoal
Portable Grill
Charcoal Chimney Starter
Duct Tape
CO Meter
Newspaper + Oil
Lighter
Steps:
-Set up the tent and cover all vents and windows with duct tape
-Ignite as much charcoal as will fit in the chimney starter
-Heat until the smoke clears (around 20 minutes)
-Dump hot charcoal into the portable grill and put the lid on
-Place the grill inside the tent, remove the lid, and close the door while waiting outside
-Allow build-up for 10 minutes, open the door, and check to see if CO is at 10000+ ppm (Will opening the door here let too much air in?)
-If at a sufficient level I enter myself, close the door, and wait to feel sleepy
Thanks for anyone that helps. I'm just trying to ensure I have everything right as a novice to camping.
