At 04/06/2025 in Edirne, Turkey, a trans person who went live on TikTok in Edirne committed suicide by jumping from the 13th floor despite all efforts from followers to stop them. The incident shocked those who were watching the broadcast.

During the live stream, the young person's last words were: "Tell my mom", "Share this with all trans websites", "They deny us the right to live".

The fact that around half of the comments on the article is people not caring and calling being trans a disease is disgusting.
I find that disturbing too. It seems the website is for celebrity gossip style content. It's strange that they would show a video like this.

Difficult to see someone hounded into it by society and then mocked after their death too. I hope she is at peace.

Once I saw the location of the article, I KNEW the response was not going to be a good one or one filled with compassion. Islam is NOT an accepting religion.

That reminds me. There was a transgirl who jumped last month and Twitter was rampant with memes and disgusting comments. Even if you look about it on YouTube, so many comments just shitposting and hating on her.

As a trans person, I don't blame her. I hope she's passed on to a better existence.

Incidents like this make me very angry. I have been very angry since Leelah Alcorn took her own life back in 2015.

If anyone trans is reading this: There is nothing at all wrong with you. There is a hell of a lot wrong with the society you live in. Your best tactic is to link up with other trans people. One person alone is fairly weak. Thousands together are strong.
Once I saw the location of the article, I KNEW the response was not going to be a good one or one filled with compassion. Islam is NOT an accepting religion.
That's not quite true. Many years ago Ayatollah Khomeini - the original mad mullah himself - issued a fatwa stating that one particular trans woman was entitled to live as a woman. Nobody in Iran would have dared to disagree with him.

The problem is not so much Islam as the way Islam is practiced in some societies. That, in turn, is determined mainly by the nature of those societies at present. At times in history, some Islamic societies have been remarkably laid back about both gay people and trans people.

I'm atheist, so I'm not here to promote Islam. But I think it's important to tell it like it is.
