Part of me wants to just go get hit by a train. I know what's stopping me is fear of failure. It seems like it should be so easy though. At least my thoughts would stop.

It's quite gruesome and it must be very painful. I think one should try out other methods first. The most gruesome, painful methods are the ones that make us chicken out the most.
There's also a fair chance one might survive, and not in good conditions.

You would have to be able to commit to throwing yourself, and I don't know how well that will go for any human.

There have been a few threads about this recently, including from someone who drove a train for a long time. Based mainly on the posts from this person, I can try to pass on some information about this method. In this person's experience about 2/3 of people did ctb, but not always right away- one person was in a hospital for four days before ctb. For the people who survive some lose their legs or have other serious injuries. Also trains typically have something in front of the area over each rail to push away debris, so laying your neck across the track hoping that that train will go right over it won't work. A two thirds chance of working isn't that bad but the downside risks are horrible. You may want to consider other methods.

I knew someone who stood in front of a train. He drove his jeep there and left the note in his car. The driver said he looked calm (it was night, headlights on). I don't think it's right to involve another person against their will, but I don't think you have any chance surviving if you walk and stand in front of it (as opposed driving your car into it). Best of luck with whatever you decide

Actually a train driver who posted here said he has seen people survive this- the train throws you or pulls you under, who knows, the results vary, but this driver hit 14 people and 4 survived-.

I literally just read that after posting here, he made a good point that's about 1 in 3. I imagine both speed of train and whether you jump forward as opposed to stand might factor too but you're right, not very reliable

I actually considered this a few years ago. I came home from work around 10 pm. I heard the whistle of the train. I thought ,I might do that.
The train, only a block from my house, tooted several more times. Then some more. It went on for an hour or more.
The next day,I found out: Someone had been hit, ctb.
That was spooky.
But I can't imagine ever ctb by train.

Drivers on average hit one or two per year, there is nothing they can do to avoid this.

To me, the train sounds like a horrible way to go. I could never ctb by that way. People deserve the option of a peaceful exit to end their suffering. I'm sorry that things are so hopeless. I understand the feeling of desperation and wanting the pain to go away. I wish you the best in whatever happens.

I wonder if having more trains like this one would affect sucide rates.

If I had to select a painful method, I would choose drowning or hypothermia. Train is too much
