If u google theres lots of successful ctb using tourniquet method.
just wonder if anyone got any luck with it? Also isnt this similar to night2? How about combining method to block the carotid artery so youll pass out quickly?can we combine with multiple drugs also? And bag or very tight mask to block oxygen and beta blocker to stop heart

If they had any luck with it they are probably dead and can't tell you.

Zip tie might not be thick enough to create pressure on the arteries. I don't know that for sure, but I would imagine with a thicker ligature it would be quicker and more reliable.

I tried ziptie and almost died. My face turned purple, I barely cut it with a pocket knife. You're right, a thicker ziptie would be definite death. I was in the bathroom and my sis was banging on the door to use it lol awkward when I walked out

Few years ago I bought an expensive military grade tourniquet. It has a mechanism where you can easily lock/unlock the turning handle and keep the pressure.
But unfortunately I have a fat neck and I couldn't turn it anymore even with extreme force. So I ditched that method as well as partial hanging.

But for people with skinny necks this kind of tourniquet might work better.

Welcome back btw.

Thanks. Yeah I've noticed that most people that can't get hanging and this method right always complain of "feeling uncomfortable" or closing their jugulars instead of their arteries. I think you people with strong necks are better off with full suspension hanging when it's time to go.

Honestly, even I find this method irritating. I have a skinny "girly" neck, but to actually compress my arteries to reach the dizziness/pass out spot I have to turn the thing to the point that it feels as if it's ripping off the skin of my neck. They made it look like a "peaceful easy method for old people trapped in hospitals" in the book, but it's obviously not that peaceful, nor intuitive.

Hi, old post but I have a question. I tried this and have no problem tightening the noose, but my face felt like it was going to explode and/or was swelling up. Is this a sign of failure or a sign to keep going? My SPO2 was down to 60% and was still alive and completely conscious, except for the swelling pressure in my face/head.

You applied enough pressure to block the veins that take blood away from the brain, but you didn't apply enough pressure to stop your carotid arteries from bringing blood into the brain. You only need to apply a few more pounds of pressure to also block the carotids.

I found that putting padding (torn off piece of thermal underwear) around my neck helps me tighten the tourniquet faster and with more pressure. It feels more comfortable and it also helps psychologically.

If you have the exploding head feeling you are blocking your jugular too much.

Actually, it only means you only block the jugulars. To be successful whit this you need to block the jugulars, but what you really want is the carotids.

If it doesn't create enough pressure then how can we explain the photos OP posted?

Where do you see photos ?
If you press "spoiler" on the original posting.

Also someone suggested to me that this method works better in the elderly, which may be the case, but I just found this article:

"The Botswana Police Pathology unit records show that a total of 368 cases of suicide were reported between 2016 and 2019. A total of 367 of these cases were suicide by hanging while only 1 was of suicide by self-strangulation. Literature shows that suicidal ligature self-strangulation is uncommon and, in most cases, common household items such as scarves, belts, neckties and rope are used. We report an instance where a 25-year-old African male used two black plastic ligatures, each with self-locking mechanisms to commit suicide by self-strangulation. The ligatures were found in situ completely encircling the neck of the victim. The ligature material deployed in this case was unique. The victim's bedroom door was found locked and secured from the inside. Examination of the crime scene, autopsy findings and toxicological analysis confirmed the manner of death. Literature review revealed that double cable tie self-ligature strangulation is rare. We describe the mechanism of death, review of the literature and associated factors."

Don´t you see how he bleeds because he cut his neck? This doesn´t look like a peaceful method, but rather like torture.
👎

The name of this method is tourniquet method, not torture method. :heh:
