o___O 2 year waiting list!? Usually for euthanasias in other countries, you only need to go back a second time after 2 weeks for them to check if you still want to end your life or not.

I'm sorry you have to wait longer. I hope whatever new meds they put on will help give you some kind of relief until the day you've been waiting for comes.

i Was shocked at how long you have to wait. I could apply now but the euthanasia team will say you have haven't tried therapy x, y, z and then you are thrown back to get said therapies, this is why it takes so long and with so many people on the waiting list too. I'm afraid I don't think the way I feel now 2 or more years is possible
Maybe the new pills will work a miracle

Oh how disappointing that you didn't get through.. yes, i feel that they are just making it harder and harder to get euthanasia. It seems they are asking for evidence of all previously tried therapies everywhere before they give the green light for euthanasia. I think Belgium is the only place which is abit more liberal. 2 years is quite a long time to wait, plus you have to spend all that money on extra meds and therapy that you already know won't help. It's a tough position to be in.

Most if not all will be covered by my health insurance so it's not the costs that's the problem. It's just the crushing 2 years or more wait. I feel like I'm being forced into handling this myself

Yes, even if you wait 2 years who knows if you will still be given the green light. With so many options available to ctb and if your situation is unbearable then most likely it's just easier to do it yourself. The only good thing about getting it done with the medical professionals is that they would ensure the euthanasia is successful.

Exactly. I think I'll try the new sleeping pills and antidepressants, I'll also go to the grief counseling but anything else will be a waste of time. I think realistically, and sadly I have to accept that euthanasia is not a possibility

I've just found out what the so called sleeping pill is called they prescribed. It's called Olanzapine an anti psychotic drug. Well they can fuck right off with that. I'm not taking that. I think they are crazier than me.

I wouldn't completely write off Olanzapine straight away. I've been chatting with another member who's planning on using Olanzapine as an antiemetic as part of their SN regimen. Their experience with Olanzapine is it makes them quite sleepy when taken.

Olanzapine is a thienobenzodiazepine, they have very similar properties to that of benzodiazepines. I suffer from terrible insomnia problems, and at the moment, only benzos seem to solve it. While admittedly I haven't tried Olanzapine myself, they do sound like effective sleeping pills.

I've already ordered a bunch of Alprazolam to help solve my insomnia issues. If I do order any, it won't be for another month or 2 until I start ordering more antiemetics.
