today honestly seemed like a good day. my parents were so present, affectionate, and attentive. they kept asking me about myself. they hugged me and kissed me on the head.

until i realized what was going on. i checked my mom's phone and, yeah, my psych had definitely been on a call with my parents for like 10 minutes. they know everything. it's so fucking sad. i feel like giving up completely.

i'm so scared of what's going to happen now and whether they're going to stop me. i'm so sad. when they treat me well, it feels like it's only because they think i'm sick. i can't stop crying.

What country are you in?

This sounds like a medical ethics violation. If someone did this to me, I would file a lawsuit and also complain directly to an ethics board.

Did you sign a document allowing this?

I'm sorry they snitched on you, it always sucks being exposed when you never wanted people to know.

I hate the feeling when everybody starts their eggshell walk because they realized how deep you've truly fallen. After my last attempt, my mother was suddenly more chill and then things go back to normal and I understand why I did it all in the first place.

In any case, I'm wishing well for you and hoping they don't catch you and you get what you want. <3

In my country, it would be an ethics violation for the medical team NOT to contact the family.

A few days ago we all literally told you that if you mentioned any plans or anything about who shouldn't be blamed for your CTB that this was exactly what was going to happen. You asked and we told you in no uncertain terms. It did set off the alarms, it set off all the alarms, because it was clearly specific enough. They didn't betray you, they were simply doing their job. If you had CTB'd, just imagine the legal consequences they'd have to face now.

you know, you're absolutely right. maybe i said too much. i don't know, i think i just wanted to be honest for a moment, even if it was only the smallest bit of honesty. i'm so tired that i'm not thinking straight.

Not unless you live in opposite land. It's the exact opposite. They were legally and ethically bound to inform the parents of their plans.

There is no other way the world it would have occurred. I think if you go back & revisit that thread, you'll see it more clearly. You were convinced that you absolutely had to tell them certain things to legally protect your parents and your partner. You simply couldn't hear us when we warned you about what the consequences would be. Since you haven't been able to see things as they are, it's for the best to stop and reevaluate. Get some rest & feel better.

"when they treat me well, it feels like it's only because they think i'm sick." That still means they love you, and that is still an honest and real form of affection, even if they needed the wake-up call to show it. Unless you're part of the small minority of people who have parents that truly have no love for them, and want you to live not because they love you, but because your suicide would be an inconvenience to them, which could be true... but I think there are more people that think their parents don't love them than there are parents who don't love their children.

I am 37 and the Mental Health system here in Australia has called both my husband and my mother and told them everything as they say they have a duty of care to inform my family if I am suicidal, I brought it up once saying that I can take them to court. It's illegal. They can't do that and they said they can when they have a fear. That person is going to end their life telling the family is allowed.

Horrible privacy violations like this are part of why I refuse to see mental health professionals. But maybe you'll get more support from your friends and family now? Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing?

It sucks that everything about ctb has to be kept to hush hush or vague, because if you're actually honest, it'll fuck up the situation even more.

i suppose that when you state that you want to kill yourself, they are obliged to do one or a combination of the following

a. inform your family
b. inform the police
c. have you sectioned

once someone called an ambulance on me cause id cut my arm. when i refused treatment, the paramedics called the police...🤮

I didn't read your other thread like the others have. I just stepped in and interfered. So, sorry about that.

I think that maybe this is for the best. I'm not certain as to what has happened to you but it seems to me there are people who still want to support you and do not want you gone this soon. It seems to me that your parents are trying their best to not do the "walk on egg shells" thing with you. They embraced you and they even talked to your psychiatrist over the phone about this.

I'd say give them and yourself a chance or another shot.

I don't personally know your parents but just knowing from you that they are willing to acknowledge your mental health and take measures in not treating you like a caged animal are enough proof to me that you can still pull through whatever shit you're in. I'm willing to bet that most parents would just check you in to a padded cell and never visit you.

Not sure if that sounds more like choosing between jail and house arrest to you.

Best of luck. I really hope that you can reconsider CTB for another year or even another decade because even alive, you're still able to find the peace you're searching for.
