I'm planning to ctb this weekend (if my nerve holds up) and I'm debating about leaving a note. Is it worse to not leave one? I started drafting one and it basically just says I'm sorry and please forgive me but I'm in a better place now. I guess I feel some sort of pressure to write something really meaningful or not write at all. Is it better to just leave a short note as opposed to nothing at all? I think it's likely either the police or my landlord will find me.

I say it's always better to leave a note than to not. Even if it doesn't take away from your loved ones' grief, it will make it worse if there's no note as they will always wonder why you didn't leave one. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think the content of the note matters as much as just leaving one in the first place.

I have a preference for notes. I would like one if my loved one ctb. I think a short note is fine.

I'll likely leave a note. I'm not sure if it will be written out before hand or right before ctb.

Be very careful with notes. They can be found, or possibly go to the wrong person after your trip.

Schedule sending and email is a lot safer, and you know the right person (and only that person) will see your message.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about scheduling emails.

I'm not planning to. I've decided it's too much work and would rather some things just remain a mystery. I've also been open about my plans to ctb with many people close to me and my reasons for doing so. So if they don't get it now, I really doubt they will when the time comes.

I would also recommend scheduling a couple days after you plan to attempt. If you go with a couple hours - you may not have been successful, and then everyone will know.

Like many have said notes can get misinterpreted so if you are to leave one be careful about the wording. I personally plan to because of the shit I've been through

I think it's personal and there's no right or wrong answer. Do what you feel is best. For me personally I'm not leaving one - partly out of spite and to fuck with my parents so they'll always wonder why.

I immediately followed you after this comment! I wish I actually had someone I wanted to fuck with like this.

If you leave a note try to look at it pragmatically and not too emotionally. The main purpose of a note should be to clarify anything that might be confusing.

I would leave a note. But dont forget people I'd you are mentioning specific loved ones in your note. I had a friend that hung himself from a tree. He wrote a nite which only addressed his wife. He left out his daughter and mother. They were ripped apart.

Of course it is up to you as it is your life and only you know what is best for yourself. In my case I see it as better to leave a note as it means that those left behind will have closure and will not be left with unanswered questions. I wish you the best in whatever happens.
