That may be lurking here (even though you shouldn't). Be queer. Openly and proudly. Live the life you want and deserve. Because we only get so many chances.
Go to pride events. Be an activist for your right to exist in the world happily.
I lost all my chances. I missed my chance go live the queer life I wanted. And am now realizing that I will never live to see a world that is truly accepting and representative. I live in the in-between. The bridge. The transition from shit to a happier future. Only I won't live to see the happier future. Where queer people are accepted, represented and just a fact of life.
To make that world real. You need to be who you are. Don't hide. Find the right people and live. Because this world, as it is, will try it's damned hardest to steal your time. Your life.
It's too late for me. And for many other older queer people. We were born too soon into a world not meant for us. And while that truly devastates me. I want to try to make a future we're other queer people won't have to suffer as they do now.
Part of me wants to say, "just try not to be queer". But that will kill you faster.
Idk I'm just sad. My life has been a waste. My queerness has starved under the weight of fear, oppression, abuse and hatred. Don't let that happen to you. Even now as fascism takes hold as queer people become a main target once again. As we regress faster to times where it was always physically dangerous to be queer.
Don't let it pass you by and don't let the hateful straights win the war. And don't give them the satisfaction of your death, unless you absolutely can't stay here. Which is valid.
I wish I could do more to shape that world for all of our people. But I can't. I was taken out of the game a long time ago. And am only now grieving that.
Just be happy. Live a life without regret. Be who you are. Change the world for those of us who were defeated.
