As pathetic as this sounds, I feel like this is my last shot at being a normal young person. i'm not going to find a social circle/ girlfriend any other way.

but the mere thought of other people seeing my face and knowing that i'm there to either find a relationship or a hookup makes me want to vomit. The anxiety of just thinking about setting up a profile and uploading my pictures is too much for me.

in the last year year and a half, I lost my virginity (to an escort), got a job and started college which were things I thought i'd never do but this is a hundred times worse than all that combined.

the worst thing is I know my profile will come across people who used to make fun of me in highschool or treated me like I was their friends' little brother.
I know that they'll laugh and probably share it around with other people they know.
I finished highschool over 2 years ago but these people still live rent-free in my head.
how can I get over my irrational fear?

You can write that you are sportive, love cooking, are a doctor, likes nature, likes watching movie etc. People give zero fuck on that. They just look at your selfies!!!

I do think tinder is secondary issue. It would be best to stop yourself from experiencing the negative thoughts and self judgments. It might be hard but for your health I would prioritize that.

I do not think It is good idea to go on tinder if you are straight. There are like 8 times mor man than woman there. I think you would be better off asking in reddit. (After all this is suicide forum, and people here might not be good in that kind off stuff. I mean some of them here are pretty social and will help but in general I think you would be better of asking in tinder subreddit or advice subreddit.)

Anyway I cannot help you other than saying that you should no bother being heterosexual on tinder. I tried. Competition is waaay to big and price is waay to small.

Also @Ch92921 is right, it is mostly about face/ height.

I have a question: IS it true if someone has a very beautiful face(model) such a person can just put some selfies and wait how he gets hundreds of interested people? Such a person can kind of chose like you chose your items in a shop?

Well I did get approached at least once back when I used to go out to bars and nightclubs and sober girls would start the conversation with telling me i'm good looking.

Occasionally random girls I see in non-party settings do that too.

That's not really my issue. I could be Henry Cavill's twin brother and i'd probably feel almost the exact same.
just the idea of people judging me, whether they like me or not. Judging the photos I uploaded etc. I can't really explain it. It's just really cringe in my mind.

My friend said that when he uploads pics of me on Instagram, there's usually 20+ girls and some guys asking for my insta, snap, number etc. Would that be similar on Tinder?

There is this thing called catfishing, when you post picture of super model and than ask for nudes or stupid stuff like this, and than set up date to laugh from that person. It is immoral but that really happens.

Yeah lookism is real. Are you familiar to blackpill?

Fuck yeah my dude. You will slay it on tinder. just get good photos of yourself. Now go out there and hopefully you won't be having to post on that forum
I do not know depressed man who gets laid regularly

Due to my anxiety I passed up so much opportunity. So many good looking girls approached me and i'd either run away or unintentionally make it seem like i'm super disinterested.
I think I reached a point where my desperation is just that little bit stronger than my anxiety, to the point where it'll allow me to act somewhat normal.

A lot of your assumptions are frankly ridiculous. No one is going to laugh at you for being on a dating app and you are right thinking it is totally irrational. One way to get over it is making sure you have good pictures and that your bio is neat and tidy. No one will have anything to laugh about then. You should have no problem finding women that way, though tinder is not a good place to make friends and you are likely to be unsuccessful in that pursuit. Keep in mind also that tinder is a location based app, meaning that if you are away from home no one will even know you are on it. You can also change your location or make yourself invisible when you are in place where you don't want familiar people seeing you. Best of luck

I'm replying to this thread to keep tabs on it for later because I have no idea myself and I've been using tinder for like three years now. I've been told my photos suck but even when other people take pictures of me they usually don't yield any better results and aren't even the real me. I suppose maybe it's because I'm an Asian male who doesn't look like a KPop star that I don't get any likes though. My description is also really vague because I think it would be dumb to say something like "finding a gf here is literally the only thing that will keep me alive past next year" even though that's the truth…

Thanks for this. Sadly i'm in a rather small city and basically everyone knows everyone here. I still bump into people I knew from highschool regularly. So i'm forced to sht where I eat.

Yes, thousands even.

After being sexually shunned by my wife, I looked on tinder out of desperation for physical intimacy. Only got messages from spammers and bots. It's tough to get laid from those apps; you either get a spammer or someone looking for long term. Could just be my bad luck though.

I'm too ugly for Tinder personally; sounds like you might as well just put yourself out there though.

Its understandable. We look instinctivly at someone face and if we believe its not attractive, then our brain doesnt produces no happy hormones.
