Tiktok makes me suicidal

I fucking hate that site and the culture it creates. I fucking hate how everybody talks like a retard. I fucking hate how enraptured everyone is in the New Show, the New Sound Trend, nobody actually cares about things that matter. Growing up in this vapid, boring, hellish, stupid culture makes me more suicidal than nearly anything. I feel like I'm the only person alive who isn't brain damaged, and it's not boosting my ego it makes me want to blow my brains out

yep its an incredibly shitty app that should really be shut down or something. I have deleted, re-installed that app far too many times. but the fact you can see how disgusting it really is, is an impressive feat. all i can suggest is deleting the app, or blocking it or something im sorry

I uninstalled tiktok and most social medias for that reason last year, I saw how brain dead it made my ex and it made me really depressed.

I feel a lot better after i deleted those apps and since i stopped looking at anything from there that was sent to me from others.

Why don't you just avoid tiktok? It's nothing easier than that. haha I use the internet since the mid 90's of the past century and I never cared about tiktok ^^ ......

it saddens me to think about how chaotic life has become for the generations below me - childhood for me was eating mud and climbing trees - but now kids are too focused on growing up :(

Yeah- I'd definitely say avoid stuff like that. I don't think I've even seen a TicTok video! I don't have it installed. Far too old for all that. It made me feel so free to delete my social media accounts. Not that I used them much anyway but they always made me feel shit.

Sadly tiktok is designed to be addiciting, using dopamine rushes to keep their users scrolling, which creates this group of users addicted to it, mostly caring about things happening on site and not much else

I don't really know much about that as I personally don't have any interest in any mainstream social media type site, it sounds shallow, uninteresting and anyway humans are tiresome. I think the best thing is to try and avoid anything like that.

Never used TikTok, but I can relate. Anytime I use anything that gives me a look at world around me I feel sad. Do people feel empathy? Do people take there ideas to there logical conclusion? Why is everyone using these meaningless words. It makes you feel alone. Fortunitly there are good communities out there. It just seems like we have to swim through the lard of pop culture to find things of substance.

Social media is a breeding ground for trolls. You can't avoid them online. You'll find a handful on here as well, very miniscule percentage though. They offer no input but comment just to go against something you commented or tell people to remove their posts because they feel <insert invalid opinion here> even though they're getting good feedback. Or they'll come back with something agressive towards your comment attempting to invalidate your situation because you should be happy you're not in theirs.

Obviously nowhere near as insane as TikTok since mods on ss are quick to remove the trolls but there's no avoiding them.

I think the internet was the greatest gift to humanity but also the worst, it can give both sides, cute videos of dogs etc, or racists saying genocide is the path of salvation. I wish humanity wasn't so busy in fighting instead we should help each other in a way

I know this sounds mean but please touch some grass. You will genuinely find more people that don't use tiktok than people that do use tiktok, even among younger generations. It's easy to think everyone uses tiktok when ad companies know you're a young, tech literate, tiktok using, youtube using individual that prefers browsing infuriating and sad content about the state of modern society. Obviously they'd keep feeding you this content and while it's true it's still a concerning amount of people fucked up by tiktok in different ways, the culture you described is a tiny tiny minority

i don't use tiktok but i think social media melted our brains even before tiktok existed. it's just the most recent iteration, or maybe the most efficient, platform at doing it.
