I saw this while scrolling on TikTok and I wanted to get other members opinions. People were talking about the inconvenience of the person who commuted but the comments really lacked empathy and I wanted to know if I am just like radically empathetic for feeling bad for the person who commuted. I am not sure if I understand. A person commited suicide, thereby stopping traffic for the investigation? And the question is about empathy for a person who died (commited) or the ones who traveled (commuted) and were delayed?

My thought was towards the person that committed. The comments are treating them more like an inconvenience rather than a person who lost their life

people would rather villainize the suicidal instead of villainizing those who leave us with such limited options… the harder they make ctb the more of this we'll end up seeing.

People never relate to suicidal until they are.

I remember completely disrespecting my own mother for attempting, thinking how weak she was. A month later I'm desperate to die.

In San Diego people would try to jump from the Coronado bridge. Held up traffic for hours. I remember being pissed I'm pretty sure. Held up thousands of people.

Ya you're right, wouldn't have happened if we had a better way out

I agree with previous responses. This happens all the time. People are egotistical, they are delayed, they want to blame somebody for their inconvenience.

Almost nobody can fully understand suicidal intentions, until they have them. People, who already suffered immensely in their lives, do not get any compassion even after they died.

Sadly, you will see this everywhere. Possible solutions are: making lives less miserable wherever possible to prevent ctb and making ctb more accessible for people who cannot be helped.

And these are the same people who try to prevent suicides and then feel like a hero when they "save" someone.

I live in France. People are bitter, lack empathy... life is hard and they know it. Not a single Parisian is happy, they have no heart. Don't pay attention to that.

its not only in France.
Everywhere in the world, people want to go about with their daily lives, and if they are stuck for few hours, late for work etc - ofc they will blame the person who committed suicide.

Im suicidal myself, but most people arent and I perfectly understand their position. I would be mad at the person as well probably.

The thinking is as following - if you are gonna ctb, do it the way that it doesnt affect other people.

There was a video in France that went viral. A man had tried to commit suicide on a train line. He failed: people insulted him, told him to commit suicide elsewhere. He died that afternoon while holding it in. It's hard to be mean to someone in distress: they display their hatred, criticize together. I understand that we can get angry, but not that we are so lacking in empathy.
