Thousands of terminally ill people dying without dignity in UK.

A recent news article is reporting the plight of thousands of terminal patients who die without proper provision.

I suspect due to under resources and funds.

Isn't it bloody hypocritical of authorities that preach the sanctity of life and do not support assisted dying, whilst many people cannot get help at their life's end.

Instead many people die in pain, without dignity and yet it appears to be acceptable.

My Mother died horribly, in her own filth in hospital.

It is really cruel how people have to die a slow, painful death from disease. It just shows what an awful world that we live in. The society wants people to suffer as much as possible. To me, a peaceful exit should be a human right.

The hypocrisy of humans knows no bounds when it comes to the "sanctity of life". On one hand, recognizing the cruelty of forcing a pet to suffer and allowing them a merciful death while forcing fellow humans to suffer needlessly while waiting for nature to mercifully pull the plug.

10% of total people who ctb, do so due to chronic health conditions it is estimated. You can read cases of desperation to end suffering, almost daily.

it seems acceptable that many people must die horribly!.

It's insane that humans have been around for thousands of years and yet we are still not able to give people peaceful deaths. Your only options are to die slowly from old age or some chronic disease like cancer.

Luckily, here in the US, doctors use morphine for pain, and, at least in both my parents case, morphine made their passing away much easier for them, and they certainly died with dignity and with great care(My mother was cared for four long months in a hospice type hospital, and her best friend who saw her each day said they treated her really well)----Patti also died with dignity, although she hated wearing that CPAP Oxygen mask but I think they sedated her so much that she basically just went to sleep after I saw her , they did all they could for her-------But of course to see her like that, was agonizing for me(and still is), hopelessly helpless to be able to help her in any way myself, and all the time now and for 6 months, I'm haunted by her last days, being depressed about it beyond any measure...so tired of it....so tired...

Agree, only a few states actually allow euthansia but it should be allowed in all 50 of them

I'm actually terminally ill. Euthenasia will be easy to get for me in my country. It still is a scary thought and I prefer to go by a lot of heavy painkillers and anti anxiety meds. Hopefully my time will come in a few months.

This terrifies me. Sadly, it also seems to be luck of the draw too. I've known family get very good treatment in NHS hospitals but also- pretty appalling treatment too. I'm sorry your Mum really suffered.

If it truly is down to budget cuts, you'd think giving people a way out sooner would be cheaper than prolonging their time in agony with very expensive drugs and procedures. Still, I suppose that would be too hard to regulate. Does make you wonder whether in future, assisted suicide will become legal here and everywhere else.

i am too. Assisted dying is illegal in UK at present. The law may change. I could have flown to Switzerland but i need assistance to the airport and it costs over 10k. There's been a spate of mercy killings in UK in recent times involving dramatic endings. Im not sure how long i have left but im in pain most of the time. I do have a plan B in case it gets really bad. I wish you peace.

Nice to see you posting on here again Rational man. I've only been a member on here a short while but always read your information. Hope you don't have to suffer, hopefully you won't have to use your plan B, but always gd to have another option. Peace.

Ordinary people before 1970 benefited from Nembutal, even though suicide still have been stigmatized the same way with today. I really wonder what's "TOPS IN TASTE"
