I want to die and never exist ever again. I guess if I go to the afterlife it wouldn't be bad, meeting Jesus then scolds me about suicide is a sin and sends me to hell. If I get reincarnated, however, I just hope I don't get to live in a shithole country and have better life than the one I have now.

There's a large thread on this pinned in offtopic - so much to consider. Personally I think so as I can't help but believe in the soul and that it likely doesn't have the same weights that press on us here. I certainly don't think Jesus would scold you either!

I said this in another thread already, but my take on it is this:

If the universe is good and just, then I'm in good hands, and have nothing to worry about.
And if the universe isn't just, then worrying about things won't change the outcome, so there's no point in worrying.

To me, any religion, afterlife or reincarnation is just a fictional concept invented by people who were unable to come to terms with the true meaningless nature of existence. Of course I believe that when we die we just cease to exist which is why the thought of being gone comforts me so much. I very much believe that death is the only relief from the torture that existing brings.

one has to ask themselves how they came to be into existence in the first place we practically come into existence from nothing and we return to being nothing, how can you prevent something like that from happening again, i hope i'm wrong and death is the end for all time but my intuition says rebirth is more likely than being nothing for all time, one would have to kill everything alive to stop themselves rebirthing into this awful shit into this shithole and hellhole, earth is a shithole the vast majority live in porverty meaning chances of reboring on earth means you'll end up being poor, Life is a gamble, at terrible odds—if it was a bet you wouldn't take it.

why people still believe in the imagery bible bullshit i'll never understand that it's obviously a work of fiction

This is a pain, as someone who was raised in a christian household. The fear never really slides off.

According to the bible, suicide is a sin.
I've never conquered these thoughts myself so I dont have much to say here, just that I understand your pain.

I'm terrified of the afterlife because my religion does mention of it. If the supreme power,God, has the power to bring us into existence from nothing then he surely has the power of reincarnating us. I believe we will all be judged for our deeds and sins committed in this world. However, I fail to understand how a loving god would ever do that or subject us to such enormous amount of suffering and cruelty. So that directly conflicts with my beliefs. The thought of hell frightens me a lot.

Most of the people and newborns in the world in fact live in "shithole" countries. If reincarnation is random, then one will most likely go to one of them. But it is also true that people there do give birth, which suggests it might not be that bad after all. Maybe it's just media propaganda that they are shithole. Or maybe people in hell don't really feel any problem until they are taught heaven is better. Or maybe hell is in fact better than heaven. Good and bad are subjective and relative.

I think there is no afterlife like 99.9% if we take in assumption that your brain is dead. All religions are just pure bullshit to control people invented by slave masters. We just eat shit and try to dominate (earn money or fuck better looking women etc) if you are lucky enough for example you have rich and normal parents, you are good looking, you don't have people around you who want to fuck you up than most likely you will have a good decent life. If you aren't lucky enough or some other things like an accident happen to you than you are OUT OF LUCK AND YOUR LIFE WOULD BE SHIT

In my case i believe in reincarnation, i really like the buddhist take, it admits "life" is sort of a game and you have to win (attain enlightenment) to finish the game so you can finally escape the endless cycle of Samsara., you also need to leave the world without any attachments to reach Nirvana, that's why some buddhist monks meditate during months so they can die while meditating and leaving no attachments behind.

There's another take i like and it's the gnostic take, it basically states that the demiurge created this world and the archons rule over it, they're some kind of entities that turned the earth into a prison planet to farm the human suffering, and they like to feed from that suffering (or loosh, aka the energy humans produce from bad emotions)
If you think about it, this theory really does make sense considering all the suffering we get to experience in our lives and how much suffering exists in the world.
Also the light at the end of the tunnel is actually a trap to trick you into reincarnating again, they shower you with an almost orgasmic sensation of love that pulls you towards the light and usually in front of that gate of light you'll see those that were important to you (partners, friends, family members, even Jesus...) and these people will tell you to follow them into the light to trick you. Once again the goal according to gnosticism to escape this prison is to leave it without any attachments to the material plane, because if you're still attached to the experiences of your ego/ human life you'll also feel a need to walk into the life and reincarnate.

If there is a God - but I believe there's not - then I look forward to spitting him between the eyes. What fault had my poor soul for all I suffered in this life? The most intense, desperate and heavy sadness and emotional suffering humanly imaginable. My heart shatters into millions on a daily basis like hot knives go thru it. And I have to put on a happy smile and hide that I am in agony. If there is a God, his name is Satan.

Religions seem to work in the past. There are many records of people receiving visions to achieve great success in major events. (The reports might be fake. But the fact that they faked to have vision suggests it is an explanation people would accept.) People have been worshipping gods and performing sacrifice for thousands of years. It must have worked somehow, given people in the past had writing and trade records, so they were probably not stupid people.

Over the years religions seem to have less and less impact except for dividing people and mobilizing them against each other.

Some religions becoming big and exclusive perhaps were also making religions less and less relevant to daily lives, paving way for the rise of science and materialism. All visions are now dismissed as abnormal and hallucination.

I believe religion is largely used by narcissists to triangulate against their victims.
I was feeling more than trapped when it was being said that suicide is seen as an hellish consequence.
I was believing it, and I could not wrap my head why I should have suffered with no escape ever.
Then it made sense when I understood all the narcissistic cycle behind. Who would loose their pray? Parents or not it makes no difference. Narcissists are not able to love anyone genuinely.
Now I strongly believe that when you die you just cease to exist, that is how it works.
I haven't existed for centuries before and I don't remember anything so I will not know anything if I cbt thereafter

I also have the same worries about reincarnation. But I already have a shitty life in a shitty country so I don't think that anything can get worse than this. Nothing could be worse than living with hopelessness, sorrow and emotional pain 24/7

I'm listening to a death witch podcast right now and I have to say, their ideas of the afterlife are some of the most comforting I've ever heard. They basically say that crossing over you see your loved ones and that it is a calming and peaceful experience.

If there is any afterlife (which I doubt, but the thought comforts me), my Mum passed away due to substance abuse, so she probably went to hell if we're looking at religious reasons. I would also be going to hell due to my suicide, so I'd be able to meet her again. That really comforts me, and I would love an afterlife for that. But probably not for any other reason. If my Mum isn't there, I would rather no afterlife and then I can just sleep forever.

what about marriage/divorce and remarriage. if there is an afterlife, who do you end up with? if they died at different times, reincarnation could be a problem for being reunited. if that isn't a problem, you'd spend the rest of eternity... doing what exactly? also there are a lot more 'souls' now than let's say 100 years ago so where did they come from. i truly hope there is no reincarnation because i'd only like to experience death just the one time.

I was terrified of hell, but that's just a concept of some religions, but there is no evidence of any afterlife anyway (and in fact there is evidence pointing in the opposite direction).

And if religious people want to claim you'll go to Hell for taking your life, I could just as easily argue this: what if there is a God, but this being realized he made a mistake in creating life, and he actually wants us to independently come to the conclusion that life isn't worth it, and thus reward those who cut their losses with nothingness, while reincarnating all other people into something else until they learn the lesson?

Because that idea makes just as much sense as any other notion of an afterlife, even assuming it exists, as in it's just a story. A story that was only invented because humans are stupid, arrogant creatures who want to believe they are special, that their existence has a higher purpose than those imposed by crude, unintelligent natural forces.

Wanting to Sleep for Eternity

I was/am obsessed with concept of reincarnation. Im not religious in anyway, but the thought of a chance at being born into a different life where i wont be suffering nearly as much as i do now comforts me. I remember as a child having thoughts and wishes that after i go to sleep i will "wake up" to my "real" family who love me and that everything i went through was a horrible dream. That was wishful thinking of course, but knowing i had a wish similar to reincarnation before i knew what it was kind of makes me sad.

I'd say reincarnation seems most logical; Not in the sense of a "soul" transferring bodies but a more basic common sense interpretation. Our experience of self identity is produced by the brain so as long as other things keep being born there will be other beings experiencing their lives the same as we're doing now
