True, this world is just holding us hostage but we do have a way to escape, because we are being denied of the privilege to do so. Like Forever Sleep said, people have Stockholm Syndrome for some reason. I like to think of it as the society being aware of all the world's problems and bad features but they have developed positive feelings for the captor (the world.) All of these horrible unforgivable things are happening and governments brush them off because they have been affected by the Stockholm Syndrome and thus, not allowing people to leave this world. Its almost as if they have become the captor, in a way.

Of course they won't otherwise they'd lose their power, their money, and every delusions they've built out of nothing in order to gain some control and priviledges over a life which they can't understand either.
Nothing remains if you remove the entire population.
The beliefs that've been made up for centuries all collapse and there's nothing left.
Life makes no sense and is pointless once you remove it from the context of any human creations.
Only life in the wild, living to survive and eventually die, soon or late.
The more believers a cult has, the better it will propagate and evolve.

Existence as a whole is futile and pointless. We are put on this planet and suffer the entire time. Even those that appear "happy" are suffering from things. As humans we will always want more, it's a greed pissing match and we're never content with life.

...Yes - the people or groups that you have described behave very similar to an abductor; just like an actual hostage suicidal individuals are only being held to benefit their captors or to meet their demands, and likewise a suicidal person will be punished if they attempt to escape.

To me it's certainly such a prison like existence with how we were forced here so cruelly and are expected to be slaves to the suffering we were burdened with. I really do see humans as being the worst species with how they create so much harm, I could never see being trapped in this hellish reality as being something desirable.

You reminded me of 'My So-Called Life' which was a great show, and I loved it yet it was cancelled after one season.

Feeling very 90's right now.
