I've been considering for years to be admitted to a long-term mental hospital since short term doesn't solve anything. I don't have a therapist and the last one I saw was an intake and focused on a physical disease, alcoholism, and made the appointment about that sending cops to my place because apparently if I don't stop drinking I'm going to fall over and die any second now. no coping skills to get me through everything that caused the alcoholism in the first place and demanded I admit myself to get detoxed. even a refusal to work with me until I'm vulnerable and wanting a drink more than anything, which is pointless since I'm not going to accept help from someone who's refusing to help.

I'm rambling. has anyone here done a long-term hospitalization or anything similar? if so, would it be recommended?

I got kicked out of rehab after being in for a week. If youre suicidal, try a dual program. Thats my advice.
