i'm asking mostly the women on this site, how do you not step into this world when 40 hour work weeks are grueling and work life balance is even worse. when i was working fr fr i was making 4-600/h something id have to work minimum a week for at an honest job. and then theres taxes

probably just extreme health anxiety and squeamishness from csa. for full on sex work id be debilitated with the fear of pregnancy, no matter how irrational. im scared of literally everything. period symptoms are already unsettling to me, messing with plan B, hormonal birth control, and any internal procedures (IUD, abortion, let alone actual childbirth) would have me in a crisis unit in a week. i don't think i'd care to resist if i didn't have these mental setbacks. for digital sw, getting clientele just sounds like way, way too much work in an oversaturated market and it kind of cringes me out. and for no-contact work like stripping/dancing, i just don't think i'd be any good at it.

Personally, only monetary considerations and want for freedom & autonomy stop me from sex work. Where I live, sex work is illegal and controled by the mafia. You need to work in a brothel or have very good connections to make solo work safe(ish) and profitable.
Brothels take 60-75% of your earnings including tips + some of it goes into a deposit that they keep if you choose to (or need to) leave their brothel prematurely.
So, you hardly make anything and if you need to bounce you're left with next to nothing. I shopped around for better deals, but usually there's some kind of preventive measure that makes it hard to leave them and keeps your earnings relatively low (compared to relatively high cost of your services)
And going solo will just get you raped for free and reported to police most of the time

not a popular reply but i will answer honestly: dignity. you are not a tool for men to jerk off on or to. youre better than that. women deserve better. women are more. there is more honor and love and safety in a boring 40 hour a week job. i hate the military and id say do that before sex work. i will never be convinced that it is "empowering".

There is no shame in doing sex work, it's a real job, in my country its even taxed due to it being an actual profession.

If you do go about it, please do it in a healthy and safe manner however, money is nice but don't destroy yourself in the pursuit of it.
