I've been thinking about CTB and a method i've been considering is using a thermite reaction. It's a reaction that creates temperatures of over 3000 degrees Celsius and if i made enough and placed it on my neck on the roof of my house, it would be pretty instant death. What could be some problems with this method? The materials are pretty easy to get (iron oxide, aluminium/magnesium powder) so i wonder why it's not more popular.

Because setting yourself on fire is a horrible way to die? Even if it is very hot, if you place it on your neck it is not like you will be instantly decapitated. It will have to burn through your neck. Also, there is no guarantee that is what it will you. You may end up burning off your face.

If you do this, you will potentially set your surrounding on fire. I would highly advise against doing this inside any structure as you could easily set something other than yourself on fire.

There are some variables involved that can not be well controlled making this a highly risky method.

If I were to get some insulation material and place it all around me? The reason I like this method is that if I use enough, there won't be a body to find.

Heat related stuff is extremely, horribly unbearably painful, at least until the nerves burn off.

I think it would be extremely painful, but I also do think it would be fatal. Maybe more than just your neck though, as that may just cause severe facial burns but leave you alive. Thermite would cause extremely severe burns and probably practically instantaneously incinerate any tissue it comes in contact with. It could (key word there) cause death quickly due to shock, severe burns, etc. You would probably die in seconds to minutes, with little time for medical intervention to help.

All that being said, I still don't recommend it. It would be extremely painful and not guaranteed. I definitely would say don't do it on your roof. It could catch nearby people's homes on fire or something, and I am fully against harming other people to kill yourself.

hell no. this is a horrible idea. it will be a very very painful death. the liquid metal has to burn all the way through your neck, which will take some time and also not drip at just one point but in a line so that your whole neck is burnt. that is something very difficult to achieve.
