I agree. Just having a 'record' doesn't mean you are untrustworthy. I know in the UK they will consider minor convictions, especially if they were during your teens. But they would ask for all this before you even start your medical degree. I know someone who works as a hospital porter, pushing patients around in wheelchairs, etc, who went to youth offender's prison for a serious assault. But he's not medical staff. After a certain time period in the UK, a minor conviction is considered 'spent', so you don't have to disclose it, even if an employer asks. I don't understand why that woman didn't check first though, before pursuing her medical career. One of the scariest things happening here is police recording 'hate incidents', which can be disclosed to employers if you are applying for a 'vulnerable people' type role, despite no crime or conviction having taken place. Just someone perceived your behaviour as 'hateful', and the police believe them! The government has declared this a breach of everyone's rights and requested that the police remove all of these from people's records, but whether they have or not I don't know. It's communist-style 'thought police' type shit!
