I agree with that to a certain extent? Definitely with the genetics and if you can't support a child, maybe you shouldn't have one right away kinda thing.

I think those who are depressed and are being consumed by themselves just want a reason to live. I know that this can be deemed selfish in regards to another little being coming into this world. They can grow to feel the same way as his or her parents. Having a child is something that's indescribable. The connection. They want to feel that with someone. What better then to have a child? You can love them endlessly and the same way reverse. I'm on the fence. Maybe because I DON'T want children. Never in my lifetime. I know I'm only eighteen, but that's that. I'm only eighteen. I can't really support myself, so I wouldn't want to bring someone into this world. I also like to fantasize though. Although I don't want children, I want to love another person endlessly, be loved endlessly, protect, and have a reason to live in this cruel and torturous world.

I've noticed something interesting in this forum. There are countless posts and threads in which members express their guilt over inflicting pain on their parents by committing suicide. Posts and threads in which members express their guilt over inflicting pain on their children are very rare, though, even though there are several forum members who are parents.

As a child with a narcissistic mother that won't shut up about loving me, the reverse isn't true, and pre-imposing it on somebody who doesn't exist yet is peak delusion. The parental bond is just wishful thinking. Blood relatives are as random as any other stranger, and may be even more distant in fact because they think they don't have to work for a healthy relationship.

I don't really know what love is, or what it takes to be a parent, but for me it would start with exercising as little power as necessary for kid to understand how the society works. No "boys don't cry". No "touching your body is disgusting". No "do your homework", no "get good grades", no "make me proud", no "I paid for that, so you'll be going there, period". And not trying to fucking guilt trip the kid into pretending feels something that I want towards me. RRRR

I am against people having kids under any circumstance, mental illness or not. This world is a hell of a place and only the naive and delusional would bring another poor soul into it. No kids for me. My line ends with me.

I just view it as being selfish for anyone to bring life here, in such a cruel nightmarish world where suicide is made as difficult as possible for people. We are forced here without choice and expected to endure lives in which are mostly determined by luck and chance. There is nothing fair about any of this and of course life holds unlimited potential for suffering.

Nothing can justify bringing life here, the truth is that life is completely unnecessary. If we never exist we have no problems or no suffering. Creating life is just creating unnecessary pain which would have been prevented by never being born at all. Of course it's the worst when those who are in awful circumstances themselves choose to procreate, but even if the circumstances the child is brought into are not as bad, there is the chance of life getting much worse with no limit as to how awful things can get in life. Nobody can deny this, so choosing to procreate certainly is a very selfish thing to do. It can never be beneficial being brought into a world like this.
