  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Yeah but you know the owners or that thing will still have many rules of who can use it. As always it will be for the over 50s with chronic physical health conditions. That's it. No matter how liberal right to die organisations seem that's the only people they support. No one under 50, no one with mental health conditions.

Yes, I agree but in time, maybe things will change in this strange world.

The capsule can be used multiple times as long as there's liquid nitrogen in the market surely. This is big relieve for any pacts

In the early stages of development it was thought that Sarco could double as one's coffin. If the Sarco is printed from suitable biodegradable materials, this is still true. But the high printing cost of Sarco intimates that it may be better to have a Sarco that can be used multiple times over. Better and cheaper for the user. More friendly to the planet.

Exit believes that the right to a good death at a time of one's choosing should be a fundamental human right afforded to all adults of sound mind. What type of gift is life if you cannot give it away? Because Sarco uses no drugs, no doctors need be involved (except for an assessment of mental capacity). Sarco is a game-changer because it will allow a person of sound mind control over their own death. No longer will they have to beg a panel of doctors to grant their final wish (by prescribing lethal drugs).

Yes, a person with depression could use the Sarco, as long as they have been assessed by a medical professional as having mental capacity to understand the consequences of their actions.

Copy paste from the website, I just can't wait when will they announce the price for public since they only allowed people above 50 to become a member. Seems worth built with good intention.

For me this seems like an ideal way to die. It should be available to all, after all none of us asked for this life in the first place so we have no obligation to live. Dying should not even need a reason. It would be such a huge relief if I had access to the Sarco.

I read somewhere that he wants to make it open source....Meaning that people could 3D print it on their own if they have access to materials right?

this is a welcome idea and i'm glad it's being developed for use. if rolled out in tandem with successful cultural engineering propagating death and dying as enviable events that people's minds come to associate with goodness and peaceful resolution, it will free many people from the cruel pain that this horrible world is truly about.

It is unfortunate that the world of "science" and "medicine" was so subverted for the covidism police state creep because a comfy trust-worthy medical / "health care" environment would otherwise have worked well to help people get past SI. Lots of work to do now (to undo the damage from covidism) but hopefully it will get done.

Does make you wonder if there will come a time when assisted suicide is more accessible to all. I felt a glimmer of hope when I first saw this thing but I have a feeling it will be like a lot of those other 'holy grail' methods for the non terminally ill and anyone not officially diagnosed mentally ill. Can't see it being on Ebay any time soon.

Also, I was curious when they claim it's painless- I understand why it SHOULD be painless- presumably you pass out before you suffocate. Still, it's not really like you can test it on anyone.

I think scientifically it will work, but the hardest part is socially we need law that makes euthanasia legal for everyone

A few quotes:

"The current pod costs around €25,000 ($26,388) to produce, a significant reduction in cost from the first version of Sarco, which came to over €150,000 ($158,285). Exit International will not be selling the devices—Nitschke's aim is to allow anyone to download the design and print it themselves free of charge.

"The machines can be used over and over when they are made available in Switzerland, but the costs will be determined by the administrative requirements," he says. "The current fees for an assisted death at a Swiss clinic right now are about CHF10,000 ($10,172) using intravenous injections or pentobarbital [a euthanasia drug]—Sarco will be only a fraction of that."

"The AI that Nitschke and his team are creating can be completed online, in the form of an interactive program that asks the person a series of questions and assesses their responses, reaching a conclusion as to the mental capacity of the interviewee. In theory the way it would work is that, if the AI determines a person is eligible for suicide, it would then give them a code to activate the Sarco—a "free pass" to the other world. This would take in total less than 24 hours, but realistically, Nitschke is aware it could take many years for laws to catch up with the technology and allow a piece of algorithm to be able to decide who is fit to choose their own death. "In the beginning, we will still have people talk to a psychiatrist. If the person says yes, well, then we'll say we can give you the code," he says.
Nitschke says his under-construction AI can bypass the ethical conundrum of having someone end their life prematurely by requiring that a person seeking to end their life in the absence of serious physical illness must have had "significant life experience"—which translates to being over 50 years of age. This is the only prerequisite. "We would argue that if a mentally competent adult makes an informed rational decision to die, then it can never be premature," Nitschke says."

So, again, financially out of reach for so many, and regulated to individuals who fall in certain approved groups (age, unclear about those with mental health conditions). I don't really see this going anywhere.
