  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Life is a cruel joke

Suicide is not a crime. It is not even amongst the greatest of all tragedies. People die every minute around the world. For the person who lives with such pain like most people here, it obviously is a right and close to a dignified and humane choice. But I believe even for those who are rational and honest beings without such conditions, Suicide should be there. We don't exist by some conscious choice, it is natural. People are unique, have different desires, philosophies and different and plausible reasons for their existential crisis. When we live in a society where suicide is condemned because of religious reasons, our erroneous assumptions and a general perception that life should be valued and extended no matter what, the stigma and misconception about this choice is what follows for all including us as well. But if you have let's say, some unique philosophy and wants about life and world in general and you honestly feel that it is never going to happen, suicide should not be viewed as something terrible. Infact if you were made to exist because of the reasons I mentioned, there is a possibility that you will become cynical, bitter, dishonest, ignorant and in general morally opposite to what you were earlier despite enjoying life in that state. One may say what's the problem with that kind of life if you are living afterall, but I believe it is in many cases, the subconscious reason responsible for the horrible state of humanity which everybody hates but don't know the reason for. I read it in a post somewhere on this forum, that one Noble award winner Biologist said that we are not supposed to exist past 25 or something.
I don't know why but sometimes I feel that we are just prolonging and creating unnecessary miseries and fears for ourselves in our need to find meaning in something non existent. I also feel that the so called Survival instincts of ours, is in some ways shaped by these beliefs about life and death.

I believe that a peaceful suicide should be a human right. It is our life and our decision and we have no obligations to stay alive as we did not ask to exist. Suicide should not be so stigmatised, as we all have the right to exit at a time of our own choosing. Death is inevitable anyway, there is no escaping from death. To me there is nothing terrible about someone choosing to take control over their own life, it is their personal decision. The society tries to keep us alive as they need workers. To me wanting suicide is perfectly rational in a life like this. I do not want to suffer for decades. Life is very pointless and unnecessary

society doesn't see the suffering of the suicidal person. they see the suffering of the loved ones only. some countries like canada and switzerland can see the importance of assisted suicide. It is a different story in the us. humans are viewed as slaves. there is no value for human life

The US won't help you end your life even if you're terminal (unless you reside in a specific state or are willing to drop everything to move there, in addition to a plethora of other bullshit requirements).

Your assessment is correct - we are slaves. Or rather, since I'm too sickly to work, I merely function as prey for the vulturous medical profession to pick pieces off of bit by bit until their pockets are lined and there's nothing left of me.

I think about this a lot. The US is a 1st world country. Part of being civilized is to adopt humane systems and quit barbaric systems. The countries around the US started to see the value in assisted suicide. There are multiple countried considering it. Why is the US less civilized when it comes to suicide? they say it is not a crime but you get treated like a criminal if you attempt.

To be clear, I think the system in the US sees people as slaves. I personally think human lives matter

I've begun to view the United States as a "second world" country. Not quite "third world", but most certainly not "first world".

If you saw how I got raised and what my parents decided was "best" for me at 18.. you would cry how ridiculous my life is at this point because you are so right. The US is going to grow with severe mental health issues in the near future.. my parents generation and how they were raised has really messed me up. It's like I was handed a mental illness the minute I became an adult. I'm so done with my life at 32. I don't want to go on anymore but I am scared that i might screw up my attempt at suicide. It's like I'm trapped and swirling. I never really even had it together but I was strong and healthy at 25, 26, 27 .. then I got stress fractures.. horrible guidance.. my dad died when I was 24 of lung cancer from smoking two packs a day.. my mom lost it.. I couldn't find my way after two college degrees with honors.. I couldn't date and find a way to make my life easier and wasn't pushed because their was no fucking style of parenting from these people. I hate it and I'm ready to go. This country's mental health guidance was shit too.. I tried it didn't help me.. I take too much responsibility for my "fuck ups" and "mistakes" but I'm tired of it because it's from a broken system that never worked in the first place for me.. I hate it and I'm just done.

A country full of guns, with privatised health care!? Unreal. A match made in hell.
Imagine getting shot by some asshole then going bankrupt trying to deal with medical bills... as if being shot isn't stressful enough!
Break your foot and need an ambulance? Thousands of dollars later...
And the cost of childbirth? Astronomical! Although many Users on here probably see the positives in that regard.
Having to file your own taxes? Annoying.
I shouldn't judge as I haven't been there, and perhaps I'm ill informed. But if these things are true, there seems to be some pretty significant downsides for a "first world" country.

Living a miserable life due to being maimed by a lunatic? Well that's your problem, we won't help ease your suffering.
It's not as if that's the least we could do or anything...
"Kill the pain, not the patient"... sure, because pain meds work perfectly and solve all pain problems.
