Anymore I think with international things, it's fairly known when words have different meanings... so they probably didn't think as much of it.

Well Spanish was because it was required because it was either that or French to get out of High school, and ironically, to graduate College!. Dutch is a recent thing. I'l also trying to do Japanese... but omg that's hard.

Honestly part of me wonders what the point is... but it distracts me, so that's good. And I know some people from the Netherlands.

Oh, It's nice to meet fellow Japanese learner. But yeah, it's rather very hard. Even native Japanese spend few years in school just to learn entirety of Kanji Alphabet.

I would recommend various courses on the Youtube such like Japanese Ammo with Misa just to grasp basics. Also, I feel like listening to Japanese Music on daily basis kinda helps. Anyways good luck with learning Japanese.

Yeah right now I"m mainly trying to get so I can detect individual sounds in words at least in movies. But yeah. Learning Dutch and Japanese at the same time, while refreshing and doing Spanish to increase all at once is like really complex.
