What?! You mean being taken to the ER against your will and traumatized by them telling you they're going to hospitalize you for no good reason and then being charged a giant bill on top of it didn't make you feel better?! Because that seems to be their treatment model.

Yes, I probably would've gone ahead with a lawsuit, but one of my husband's friends talked him out of it, saying that if we filed a lawsuit we would be keeping this horrific experience in the forefront of our lives and have to relive it over and over. She basically talked him out of it. It's too bad too because I could've certainly used the money right now, and both of us went through hell.

I read your story. That's absolutely horrible. I'm not sure who was worse... the doctor, the nurse, or the police. You certainly didn't deserve to experience all or any of that. I'm also sorry about your loss.

I hate idiots cutting me off
I hate idiots wanting to speed in the country around hills that almost rear-end me when I have to slam on breaks to avoid hitting a deer (it was so cute!!!)
I basically hate people
I may have hit 90mph... in a 35.... on an offramp.

Are we really sure they're not doing lobotomies? I mean with advancements... pills are different... machines are different... maybe they are just in ways we don't really know what they're doing, and just make it sound pleasant so we volunteer for it, and get our friends to sign up for it...

and holy crap I just had a bad thought of someone I know going in for a "new experimental treatment that cures depression" that "feels like a hammer to a skull".... but I'm sure that's not what it is... ok going to start doubting myself... just going to end it here.

That new "hammer " treatment is TMS. It feels more like a woodpecker. It helped my depression for 8 weeks, and my fibromyalgia for 7 months.

I need maintenance treatments, but since I plan on ctb, and I don't qualify for free treatments, I am not bothering. Some provinces have really good coverage for it.

It's terrible. And I owe a lot of hospital bills. I'm up to about $6k in the hole

The FDA approved it over 10 years ago, but big pharma makes it sound dodgy. I was so relaxed that I would doze off during my sessions. And I don't relax. Ever.
I would feel like I had had a 60 minute massage therapy appointment...so good.

Yeah, it was offered to me when I told my psychiatrist that I had found all the supplies I needed to do a lobotomy on myself (from a well known site named after a river), if I didn't get effective help.

I was just looking at a picture at a psychiatric hospital that was in a town I used to live in.... they closed it down and turned it into cheap housing... two of my friends lived in there. One lived in the place they performed electroshock therapy.... she swore the room was haunted.

I had to admit though... they intentionally made that place as twisty-curvy hallway as possible to confuse the hell out of you. I Got lost in there trying to figure out how to get out. I felt like the walls moved. The place was build in like the 1800-1900s.

It wasn't until I went there a dozen+ times that I finally learned my way around.

Do you know the story about this little girl? Luckily, her family IS suing and I hope to God they, as you said, own the hospital when it's over! I also wish they would take this doctor's license away. I can't believe these doctors can stand up in court and have the audacity to defend their actions after what they did to this poor little girl and her family. I remember watching the story when it was playing out. It was just horrific then and it's horrific now. I hope there's at least some justice for this little girl ( well, I'm calling her a little girl but she's actually in her 20s now. But she was only 9 years old when this happened I think) and her family, although money is certainly not going to give her back what she lost.

I never understood how putting a depressed or suicidal person in debt is supposed to help them feel better.
