Seriously? I can smell someone all the time... humans have smell... I bet you could walk up to her and be like "you smell"

I had a nurse tell me I smelled once when in a nursing program and made me wash with patient bath wipe things. That was humiliating--almost dropped out from that especially since another student who reeked of BO who was next to me and hadn't used deodorant in like 2 weeks, and he "omg the smell is so good!" like please woman get your hormones in order. You're straight, I get it, but he stinks.
I admit I sometimes will go a day or 2 without showering, but that's when I don't have to go out. Otherwise, I shower. I can't believe they wanna send me to a long term facility center

Yeah I'm showering everyday, but the nurse told my mom that she could smell me. She and my mom are also looking at long term facility treatment for me and I'd rather ctb then go to a long term facility.
I have been in a long term program before. I felt the same way about it at the beginning. It was a residential program in a state far away from home. I graduated from it a year later. I mean, it helped some. Its worth giving a try. I did get a lot better while in it. It had helped a lot of people when I was in it. I learned a lot of life skills while in it and had a bit of relief. But, I can totally understand not wanting to do it. There were a lot of things I hated about it, and some I liked.

But, I'm here in SS now...so not much can be said for it, lol

You got diagnosed with both, today? You kind of had a feeling about bipolar though, didn't you?

glad you didn't get committed. Good job! If they thought you were totally happy why did they still offer you voluntary commitment?
They probably offered voluntary to cover their posterior(s)

My mom and the nurse agreed that my life has no outlook the way it's going. Tbh, all I see in my future is death. Nice peaceful nothingness.

Might have... I really kind of wondered just how close I was to not having an option... probably best to not think of it. Considering I was told to call in 2-3 weeks... blood work in about that I'm thinking pretty close (meaning, he'll know if something happened to me by then).

That was me. I was hospitalized more times than not in a single year. But, then i got put in the program. It sucked. It was hard. But, I left the program "capable" of living independently. My entire life changed, some better, some worse. Now, I have some moments hope of feeling maybe a little less hopeless. I'm glad I gave it a shot, even if i still struggle now.

I just realized that I missed a psychiatrist appointment that was on the 28th. Completely forgot to put it on my calendar. Of course, I discovered this after hours on a Friday night, so I can't even call to reschedule.
I'll call on Monday, because I'm low on one of my meds. I wonder how if one "no call/no show" gets you dumped as a patient?
(sigh)
My anxiety about this is now 8/10, because that's the way I roll. :'(
Is anyone around to talk me down a bit?

One 'no call/no show' shouldn't get you dumped. Worst case, you get billed for the appointment time. Everybody messes up at least once.

I can relate. In 2017, I was hospitalized 5 times. One of the hospitalizations lasted 6 weeks. It sucks.
In total, I've been hospitalized a total of 11 times in my life. I costed the insurance company $300,000+ last year for my hospitalizations

I agree. In my past experience, they wont drop you unless it becomes habitual. They might bill you though.

If it makes you feel better, it's doubtful one NC/NS would get you dumped. Generally doctors know that things happen, people forget/etc.

Do you have enough meds until a next appointment? sometimes a pharmacy can request a refill making it implied you are gonig back. (well some places)

Yeah, my hospital bills were insane. The program i was in cost a crap ton, but in the end, I think it was less money in the end than the constant hospital bills.

Free medical care here in Canada, so the bill thing is unlikely.

I owe about $6k in hospital bills. Not my main reason for wanting to ctb, but it's a reason.

Free health care in Canada, so no bill. I would expect that from my dentist or a doctor I was paying privately. Then I would not be freaking out!

This is the "Mean Girl" psychiatrist that I posted about yesterday. She's unpredictable and unprofessional. I am changing family doctors at the end of Feb, and I would have to get my "subpar" family doctor to refer me to a psychiatrist if I have been dumped. Then, in March, I would have to get my new (hopefully better family doc) to refer me to a psychiatrist that works out of the hospital with the decent psych ward. It's all free, but so exhausting!

My parents paid for my other hospital bills when I was younger, but when I turned 18, they were like it's your problem now

The one upside is that since you turned 18 you're also allowed to be on SS :pfff:

Then I don't understand how your mom can force you to go into a hospital or really, have any say in it, if she's not going to be paying the bill. If you're 18 and it's your problem, then they shouldn't be able to force you into a hospital or a treatment center.

I honestly wouldn't worry. There are patients who miss appointments because they fear leaving the house. One accidental miss isn't going to hurt anything.

It's because the money isn't their problem. While under their roof, they can probably make all sorts of rules.... even rules which have financial consequences. I agree that it's BS. If you're gonna force something, help pay for it.

Exactly. I just don't see the point in hospitalization currently as I'm not in an active suicidal mindset. My thoughts are passive

Not only that, but you've been going to this program. You've been looking at colleges, all the things that we listed that you were doing yesterday or whatever day it was. I mean, it's not like you're just sitting around not even trying to get any help or anything. You're working on it. You're trying things. They don't seem to be giving you any credit at all for all the things that you're doing. It's just infuriating to me.
You deserve some credit for all the hard work you've been doing.:heart:
