Is it just me or is every major country moving towards authoritarianism and totalitarianism? Every week you hear about yet another step made towards complete government control and power. In China, they are just completely denying massacres of their own people. In the UK, the government is moving to impose a China-style crackdown on the internet and install security cameras in every corner of every public space. In the US, people are being abducted for stating their opinion. And in third world countries, you can be tortured to death for having the wrong religion. So in general, the world is just getting so much worse every day, I think it won't be long before torture and humans rights violations become mainstream again, and when that happens there will be no way to pretend that this isn't hell.

They recently introduced the online harm bill , meaning censorship is going to become orwellian. They have jailed a few people for telling the truth about the Southport stabbings too.
They are also working on the digital pound CBDC and want to eradicate cash. The digital currency will have an expiry date meaning you wont be allowed to have any savings.
If you piss the government off, they will freeze your account, and with no cash around youre fucked.
The digital euro CBDC is due to be rolled out around October too.

In China, it's not just as you said. The media here keeps talking about the "East rising, West declining." The media constantly portrays Western countries as evil, and the Chinese people are said to be living in a mess. Yet, China continues to pursue wolf warrior diplomacy.

I guess we'll see if democracy survives the twenty-first century. There is a big push towards populism and authoritarianism in alot of the west right now. Hopefully we go back the other direction, but it certainly does not look good right now.
