What is the point of life anyway? Just live until I die? I don't see the point.

Just wanting some peace

I could never see any, to suffer in this existence will always be the most terrible, torturous burden to me that just causes all this cruelty and suffering all for the sake of it with no limit as to how much one can be tortured.

I could never see any point to any of this and there could never be any, existence is just so unnecessary and futile, it's just so terrible and cruel how humans choose to impose this existence in the first place and cause all this suffering that there was never a need for at all, more than anything I wish I never suffered. I wish I stayed unconscious of this torturous, cruel existence that to me will always be a mistake, existing really is just waiting to die and I find it so horrible how the torture of being burdened with this existence can continue for decades longer just to face the terrible extreme agony of old age, to suffer in this existence will just always be an abomination to me, the peace of non-existence is just all I could ever see as positive.

There is no inherent meaning to life. The meaning of life is just whatever you impose as meaning, which differs for everyone. And life doesn't even need to be meaningful for you to be able to live. In my opinion, we should try our hardest to make the most out of life considering it is potentially the only chance we ever get to experience consciousness. And throwing it away like it's nothing would be a huge waste. We should try to not die as much as we physically can and suicide should be an absolute last resort.

I think bl33ding_heart has it right. It's personal for everyone. Do the best with what you have and that's all you can do. However, I do believe a level of consciousness exists after we leave our bodies - for me, death is a transition and not an "end".

Extreme Pain is much worse than people know
Aug 12, 2019

life can torture any human to the point that whatever they find meaningful will be meaninglless at that point of the constant worst unbearable pain that is a bilion times worse than they can imagine , the most extreme agony . at that point the only thing that matters is stopping the unbearable pain

even a simple sound like for example an annoying seat belt tone or car alarm . if a human is locked in a room with nothing but that sound or any repetitive sound even a short spoken phrase. and it never stops. at what point will this become torture? then extreme torture a few minutes of this loud sound, hours , days, weeks, months years.? it will . just this shows life and the brain is an extreme torture chamber. i just showed one example . anyone is welcome to try this test to sit in a room with a repetitive sound and see how long they can last. . but this is just a sound what about unbearable pain that is excruciatingly painful at the first 1/10 second like placing the whole skin on scalding hot metal . at what point 3 seconds? 5 minutes ? 10 hours ? 7 years of such pain will nothing else matter but stopping that pain? will eating a sandwich watching a video matter then? No

pain like this extreme torture is always lurking waiting in the brain to strike. why? because the brain is capable of producing such hell, a hell a trillion times worse than the worst thing anyone can imagine.

so the only objective meaning in this hell is avoiding unbearable pain and or intolerable suffering . because pain and torture can be so bad that it makes everything else meaningless except stopping that pain . and one who knows how bad it can get to act proactively to avoid such torture. any human will find something that is intolerable and gets more unbearable every second like constant excruciating pain.

i haven't seen anywhere anyone say this which i believe and is one of my first principles : "pain is a billion times worse than one can imagine".

to me everything else is meaningless anyway even if there were no pain or suffering. but since there is unbearable pain and suffering then me avoiding excruciating pain is what matters to me . and to me my suicide asap partly because of this as in Eternal Non-Existence i can never suffer unbearable pain ever

this world this life this hell is not an amusement park but a very dangerous place. i can't consciously waste my time to "enjoy" some stupid click bait video or eating food because it's easy now , only so that some excruciating intolerable pain or agony can get me later.

only a conscious working brain can suffer to unimaginably intolerable depths. a rock a chair can't suffer. only life and a brain can create such extreme suffering as i described here and worse. i haven't seen it anywhere how extremely horrible things can happen to anyone and how bad pain can get : pain is a billion times worse than i can imagine. . all i see all the time everywhere is "go enjoy yourself" , "life is a beautiful sacred gift", "death is bad" :: yeah how is Non-existence bad and life good when i can't suffer because i don't exist but in life living i can suffer a hell a trillion times worse than i can imagine .

life , something that can torture humans or other animals so excruciatingly for no reason is evil . for these reasons and much more a book more and then some personal hell i refuse to acknowledge this evil as something good and to partake in it . even for any 1 reason i mentioned here would be enough . why do i have to live even another second ? i see no reason other than if i want to risk extreme torture which i dont'. and further that i have to work all day laboring work a job chores as a slave just to exist under threat of extreme torture.

life tortured trillions of animals for 500 million years and billions of humans too. so this is what they constantly say is beautiful? life is so bad 1.4 million people attempt suicide every year in a single country the U.S. only the ones who use guns kill themselves at a rate of around 30k per year cause guns are deadly but the other methods aren't.

to me pain is a billion times worse than i can imagine. therefore Non-Existence forever is a billion times better than i can imagine because it is the only guarantee of no pain no suffering no problems no bad memories . i'm certain 1 micro second after my brain dies is eternal Non-Existence i will never exist again . i'm glad i will die soon,, and the universe will eventually die in Heath Death as it continues to expand .

The point of life is what you make it. I think also, to try...even if you fail, trying is part of life. To find a purpose and stick to it, it can be anything and the most simple things.

Simplicity is beautiful too anyways.

You live because you die, and you die because you live.

Realistically it's to continue the circle of life, but I believe it should be to try live the life you want. You shouldn't have to live life just surviving it, make it the best it can be

No meaning but you can create your own to be whatever you want it to be within that meaninglessness. Having no deeper meaning can be a positive or a negative thing and it just depends on how you want to look at it. Everything has an eventual end, after which this will all be as if it never even happened.

Same here. This question have always lingered on my mind. If we're just born only just to die, then what's the point, really? It's ridiculous, absurd, pointless, & just depressing, really.

There's no point as a baseline, unless you actively create one for yourself. It can be whatever you want.

Well, objectively, the meaning of life is to reproduce aka leave your DNA footprint and then you can die. That's how evolution works. Dying is justified after one reproduces because the mission is done so one is no longer necessary to be here. Evolution would simply fail if living creatures could never reach the reproduction stage, so it all makes sense.

Animals don't give a fuck about the meaning of life, they simply follow their instincts. It's us, humans, who think about that shit all the time because to us, evolutionary drive is not enough to continue living, we need more than that. That's why some (maybe majority of) people believe we have souls that transcends the flesh we inhabit in. Because we need more than food and shelter to feel happy unlike animals. Sure, animals also beg for companionship but humans need more than companionship on top of food and shelter. We need so many things to feel accomplished. That's why our lives are way too complex compared to that of animals', otherwise people wouldn't kill themselves for so many reasons.

It doesn't have one; objectively, there is no meaning—there never was.

If you ask "normies," they'll tell you that everyone gives their own meaning to their life, that life is beautiful, or that god has a plan for us... Lies, when all is said and done.

I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, so death is my preference. I think there is way too much suffering in this world and life is a curse, especially as you get older.
But I have had periods of remission on meds that lasted years. BTW I am 57f, so I've had a lot of life before me. I do believe you assign your own meaning to life by figuring out what you are passionate about and what brings you joy while you are here. Hopefully that entails helping others through career choices or volunteering. There doesn't need to be a point to it all, just live in the moment. It is all we can do because everything is impermanent. One of my favorite quotes I often refer back to is To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded"
