  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

The kind of advice I hate. This, just this...

I hate it when people use that type of example as an argument for not CBT'ing.

It never takes into consideration those of us in permanent uncurable physical and/or mental pain. Reducing it to its simplest form, it is right that someone suffering pain from terminal cancer shouldn't have the right to take their own life?

Some people only deal with "simple". It is easier for them.

Urghh- yeah- I understand your frustration...

His views are SO dependant on his own beliefs. His beliefs are just that- BELIEFS- not facts. No one knows if we get reincarnated. No one knows if we get punished for past 'sins'. What I REALLY want to know- is- What are these types of people striving for? If they keep overcoming adversity in each life- what will they be rewarded with? A life without any difficulties? Even people who seem to get everything in life still kill themselves (and not necessarily because they lost it all...) So- did those people live 'perfect' lives until that point? Why did they 'throw it all away' then?

What qualifies you as a 'pass'- so you don't get reincarnated again? And- what do you become at that stage? Is there any choice to it?

I don't know- it just seems like a very personal viewpoint- which is fine for him and whoever to have- of course. Just think 'you do you buddy- let me do me.' Reckon that's the best response. If it doesn't make sense to you and your experience of life- disregard it.

Videos like that are just nonsense, I find it hard to take them seriously. No matter what anyone says there could never be anything wrong with suicide. But I believe that reincarnation is a fictional concept created by people who were unable to come to terms with the true meaningless and insignificant nature of life, where we exist only to inevitably die, and that is it for us. It's best to just take no notice of anything like that.

I don't think much about reincarnation, but I don't have too. It's just not what I believe in. To me it's just another of many religious beliefs or thoughts about the afterlife. Find what you believe in and don't give a second thought to what someone else thinks. There will always be someone on some street corner trying to tell you different.

I believe everyone has their own personal level of acceptability when it comes to suffering. Some people have a greater tolerance for it than others but nobody can withstand the worst levels of pain for long unless they have no other option.

I'd describe myself as a Secular Buddhist. I do believe in reincarnation as I've seen a lot of empirical evidence for it, but I don't subscribe to the common Sikh/Hindu/Buddhist believe that a 'violent death' results in bad karma, or having to go through 8.4 million reincarnations through the plant/animal kingdoms before you get reincarnated in a human body again.

Buddhists tend to forget that Buddha in the incarnation previous to becoming Buddha actually committed suicide himself by offering his body to a dying tiger and her cubs as meat. I think it's all about intention at the time of death.
