  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I can't even begin to express my hatred of it.

They litterally idolize those who are suffering, they use them as inspiration, "look this strong person who is litterally going through hell, yet they want to live, we should all strive to be like that"

And then when someone in the same situation or worse and claims to not want to live they are demonized, shamed for not being "strong", not delusional enough to just keep on suffering for no reason.

They are so desperately
They could even cheer on someone somehow killing themselves as long the person claims to want to live.

Yeah it really puts pressure on us. We have to conform to their requirements to be praised. As if we're not going through enough, or not trying hard enough. We do what we can. Choice is an illusion, especially in our situation. We just do what we can with our limited options. Were pushed down a road with limited choices. It should be respected, but it's not.

I believe it's a narcissistic thing. People like to see other people that are beneath them trying hard to climb up. That affirms the people that their lives are so very valuable and meaningful. Gives Them encouragement to continue climbing up and stay up. The so called "positivity".

I don't really believe in strong or weak. I think everyone has the strength inside of them but those who survive, compared to those who suicide, accidentally overdose, die from ED complications, or otherwise fail to thrive in life have certain traits and circumstances that are inherent to them and that make it much easier to tap into that inner strength.

People born into privilege and fortune are forced to believe their good quality of life is due to their "hard work." Telling them that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouths would break them mentally.

The fact is, whether someone has the resilience or not to survive life's hardship isn't always based on their personal efforts. Sometimes it's a random thing. Sometimes it's even a genetic thing.

You have no control over the environment you grow up in. What I can't stand more than anything is people treating my symptoms as repulsive when they've gone through less than I have. Yes, people have gone through worse than I have and survived...but they conveniently leave out all those who didn't. Those who died or CTB'd or are now in and out of the prison system.

Neglect, abuse, mental illness, systemic injustice, etc...these can all break your brain. Every human being has the potential to be irreparably damaged to the point of suicide. Every human being is just the perfect combination of circumstances away from being a bad person or a danger to themselves.

Fucking hell, sometimes it isn't even trauma that gets them. For some people, they grew up with a loving family, friends and romantic partners that cared, a nice community, and enough financial privilege to live a decent life...and despite all this, their brain is still broken, because maybe they grew up in an apartment complex where they were exposed to too much lead. Just throwing an example out there.

You just can't explain survivorship bias to someone with bootstraps mentality. They'll never understand it, because they don't want to understand it.

That you and I were once the same. That we are not always in control.

I find the belief that life must be prolonged at all costs to be something that is very insensitive and harmful. Just because some people see value in existing and having to endlessly struggle doesn't mean that everyone should be forced to stay here, there could never be anything wrong with choosing not to continue existing, it's not an obligation to stay here.

But yes, suffering shouldn't be glorified, to me suffering is something that is unnecessary and just tortures existing beings all for the sake of it, it makes sense to wish to be free from it all, there's nothing to be gained from having to endlessly struggle. If people want to then that is their decision, but they have no right to force these beliefs onto others.
