I'm near certain that the dark triad doesn't actually exist. I've met many people in my life and I've seen that really, when we get to the root of a humans wants and needs we're nothing more than flesh machines with an urge to survive and reproduce.
You can think about it yourself. Why do so many people rape? Why do people steal? Why do people fall for these urges? Because they lack shame. That's all there is to it. Difference is that through all of it we'll still believe in that we're good people. That's the problem with the "dark triad". It doesn't tell us who is a bad person, it just tells us who lacks the shame to stop themselves from acting on their urges. Is that a bad thing that they're not lying to themselves? I feel it's stupid that we hide from it.
I'm not saying I want everyone to act on their urges. But I feel like if you know what you are, know it. Be honest about it to yourself. And if you are someone you don't want to be, then the right choice is to stop yourself from acting on your urges. By whatever way possible.
I look around myself and see people who boast about how they care so much. But they still act in ways that show the opposite. Do we actually really care if we're not acting that way? Psychology says no. But that could be wrong.
Society coming up with "the dark triad" just shows how much we're able to lie to ourselves. Everyone lies to themselves. And I'm sure that if we were to look deep enough we'd see that every human is just as horrible as the next.
I'm not saying I'm better by the way. It's one of the reasons I will commit suicide. Not a choice I'm proud over since I know that it took a lot to get me here.
