  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

There's been a thread or two about it, but thought I'd post a link to the full documentary of The Bridge, which is about suicides (attempts and survivors) that jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge in case anyone was interested in seeing it. The likelihood of surviving a fall from the Golden Gate Bridge especially in winter is very low due to impact and shock of cold water. Nothing that graphic is included, and it mostly has things like family interviews, the mystique of the bridge itself, and individual stories. There's a few reposts of it up on yt but it makes for an interesting watch due to its neutral approach, I think. Difficult to find suicide related documentaries that aren't just hand wringing nonsense.

Direct link due to age restriction.

I'm also posting this because previous links to the documentary on past threads are broken.

I've seen that movie. Completely eliminated the thought of jumping off a bridge for me. They're just drowning with extra injury. Seems horrific.

Totally understandable. I hate the idea of impact trauma and drowning as well, and with a bridge you're basically getting both at that height. I always wondered if the initial shock would make it not-awful/knock you out instantly, but I'm not willing to test the theory...

Just watched this for the first time (I think, I've seen a lot of documentaries about the GGB) and I enjoyed it. A lot more nuanced than others. The people speaking really showed that there are other perspectives and suicide isn't such a back and white topic as it is always made out to be. I especially liked hearing from Caroline Pressley and Wally and Mary Manikow. Such gentle and understanding people. Kevin Hines too.
Seeing that woman being handcuffed on the ground and then put in the back of a police car like a criminal upset me. It didn't look like she was even fighting. If they were so concerned with her getting help why not treat her kindly.

The way Gene jumps at the end is pretty heartbreaking. He goes so gracefully before he hits the water. It look like it ended quick for him. So sad how it just happens.
