Venting the antidepressants aren’t working i still want to kill myself

started a combo of fluoxetine and bupropion a little over a week ago at this point

felt fine for most of the week i guess, maybe a little numb. tonight i wanna cut myself and drink the sn but im too pussy

Medications take time (usually far longer than just a week) to really have an overall effect.

Even then, they aren't miracle-workers, and often it can take experimentation with different kinds to see what works.

Feeling suicidal and/or numb is a common side-effect of antidepressants, unfortunately.

From what I remember it takes 2-3 weeks for them to fully kick in and for side effects to go away. Bupropion specifically actually made me very suicidal as well but it always depends on the person. Sometimes you can get genetic testing to see what might work better for you and which are more likely to have side effects if your office provides it

I've been on lamictal and bupropion for awhile now, increased the dose of the former several times, and I still am in agony every second of the day, to the point I have chest pain and can't think about anything else but the source of my depression. I think sometimes depression is too much of a tsunami for antidepressants to go up against successfully, or even enough to make a noticeable difference.

Antidepressants can cause worsening suicidal thoughts. Be careful.

It takes a while for antidepressants to really go to work. I would not make any judgement calls until you have been on them for at least 3 months.
