testing SN with kit + blood

hello guys. not much to say here, i did the SN test with an aquarium kit and blood.
i got mine recently, two bottles so i am keeping one closed.
i had a scale and didn't have the 500mg or distilled water but i dipped the stick in the purified water before hand and it showed up white for nitrite and nitrate!
honestly not sure if the kit was entirely accurate but the blood turned dark within a few seconds, like really a few... so that should be all i need to be sure it works right?
it was hard to tell what colors it lined up with in person. i think they darkened slightly after more time.

ALSO NOTE! for test i put sn straight onto the part thats supposed to test the nitrite and it turned dark for a bit then back to completely white. i dunno im not smart about this stuff but i just thought it was interesting.



left one is nitrate, right one is nitrite.

purified water test (nothing showed up)


tw: really small amount of blood on paper.
top is a few seconds after putting SN on, bottom is no SN. (i suppose thats how its supposed to look?)

anyways i dunno if i did these perfectly right, but the blood test should be proof enough right?

I'm also doing this test with similar result for both nitrate and nitrite.

I'm so confused right now, shouldn't we look for NITRITE only? We should avoid nitrate because they are different compound with different effects?

yes, just look for the nitrite lol, my test strip just has both so i looked at it anyways haha
