Over a year I attempted very seriously, planned etc and no one knows. Anyways I been wanting to tell people about this , because it's been eating at me. I think it would make me feel better. I've been reading accounts of how people felt after hearing about their friends suicidality, past and present. They all seem very torn up about it, shaken, crying stuff like that. I just cant imagine people I know reacting in that way. Has anyone done this themselves? Did they ask about what treatments ur doing, because I'm not doing anything ( not medication, therapy nothing) and I dont want someone to start pressuring me to. It also seems too complicated to lie about. I know its different people, but I want to cover all likely possibilities. How did they act afterwards? I had told someone in the past a long time ago I was actively suicidal and we stopped being friends just days later. I'm hoping staying in the past would avoid this outcome.

What I'm about to share is based on my own experience and may not reflect reality for everyone.

I have tried to take my own life on several occasions—not necessarily in a planned way, but often on impulse. I have also hurt myself multiple times.

The first time my parents found out, their reaction was confusing to me. My father got angry and didn't speak to me for the rest of the day. He never brought up the topic again. My mother seemed more dismayed; I remember her asking why I had such thoughts at such a young age. But I think she chose to forget about it to make herself feel better because, by the next day, she was acting as if nothing had happened.

As for my friends, their reaction was similar to my mother's, only much colder. One friend showed concern, but honestly, it didn't feel very genuine—almost as if she didn't really care. Another friend simply said she respected my decision and then completely forgot about it.

I feel like I'm not surrounded by very good friends, which might explain the way they reacted. But I believe that if you have closer and more genuine friendships, the experience can be very different.

Do you have a gp? Get him to prescribe you some antidepressants

Also it could be your friends not caring but also could be they don't know how to deal with it. Imagine telling them suddenly you're in love with them and they are straight, theyd lack the emotional capacity to deal with that too

Becuse u think it would help generally, or so that I have something to say when they ask.? Im not on any yet because when I'm not depressed I feel fake/embarrassed talking about it and when I am I cant be bothered. But I'll see about it.

Because anti depressants can generally help. Can't force u to do anything u don't want to but there's nothing wrong with asking for help or needing medicine to function.

It seems like a good idea... to try and find friends in real life who have also felt suicidal in the past, who know how it feels to look at the world and into one's self and feel nothing but utter despondence and hopelessness... if you can find people and friends in real life who can genuinely relate to your struggles and have experienced comparable things to you--then it might be a good idea to confide in those people, for the sake of catharsis.

I think you deserve the right to find someone whom you can vent out to in person about how affected you feel about these suicidal attempts and feelings; it feels very very good and very very comforting to be able to say all that out to someone in person, face to face--and I want you to feel that comfort, too.

But...

you need to make sure to find the right person for it.

Picking the wrong person may leave you feeling confused, cold, misunderstood. And I wouldn't want you to feel that, either.

Please take care of yourself. Hope you find the best person in the world, the most kindest caring understanding-ist person who has experienced all the hells that you have too, who will be truly able to comfort you with complete knowing of your emotions and sufferings. Best of luck <3

Nothing wrong with medication huh? There's a ridiculous amount of possible side effects. A neurotoxic antidepressant gave me PSSD.

Wanting to share your problems is natural. Who doesn't want someone to understand and care for your troubles? but I find it never leads to good things as no one really cares, or rather it just becomes another problem and they have their own shit to deal with.
