Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Are there any hobby chemists on SS who have synthesised sodium nitrite from nitrate? I've made several unsuccessful attempts, possibly due to my minimal chemistry skills. Any tips would be appreciated, particularly in regards to reaching/measuring the temperature that it should be heated to

I've read a few stories about attempts of producing NaNO2 from NaNO3 here, but none of the posters mentioned any somewhat good testing procedure which would confirm that they got a product of decent purity. I have a feeling that the effort required for making your own sodium nitrite and testing it well enough may exceed the effort needed to produce sufficiently pure carbon monoxide which can be used for nearly discomfort-free CTB. It's worth noting that NaNO2 is just a too low-quality poison (considering possible alternatives to it) for a really smart chemist who'd seek for comfortable death, hence preparing this substance for CTB according to some reliable protocol is likely exceptionally rare amongst the chemists.
