It seems like almost everyone who wants to ctb by hanging prefers suspension over long drop.

Why do you think that is?
Seems to me like long drop method is the far more peaceful and sure-fire one. From what I could gather it makes you fall unconscious within milliseconds due to a broken neck, if done properly that is. Suspension, in comparison, leaves you hanging and painfully suffocating for a considerably longer time. Giving SI time to kick in while also giving you ample time to regret what you've done.

What makes suspension the preferred method of suiciders all over the world? Anyone who puts thought into how they want to die should arrive at the conclusion that long drop > suspension. At least I think that's how it should go.

Some pros/cons for both methods:

Suspension:

Pros:
-relatively quick loss of consciousness
-relatively little/short time of pain
-no need for a lot of planning
-can be done almost everywhere
-can be backed out of if one decides fast enough and doesn't do full suspension

Cons:
-pain for a few seconds
-high chance of brain damage if found before death
-SI can kick in and make your last moments ones of regret and painful struggle
-thrashing around which can potentially alert nearby people
-thrashing around which can undo the rope or break anchor point

Long drop:

Pros:
-almost instant loss of consciousness
-less pain than suspension
-less time for SI and regret to take hold
-if you mess up somehow and don't break the neck, it's still a suspension hanging
-no trashing around if done correctly
-less chance of being saved

Cons:
-needs more planning
-needs more knowledge
-cannot be done everywhere, needs a good location that provides strong anchor point and big enough drop
-cannot be backed out of once you begin the attempt
-you'll spend a lot more money on the rope
-good chance of messing up since you aren't a professional hangman

One last point idk where to put:
Long drop can decapitate you, which can be a positive or negative depending on your own thinking. It'd end you quickly and without chance of being saved as a vegetable, although it's probably not the way most people want to go.

So, considering all of this, what are your thoughts on the questions I asked above?
If you can think of any other pros/cons, please share them and I'll add them to the list.

Long-drop—in my opinion—is needlessly rudimentary and will be agonizing if the drop doesn't immediately kill you. A common misconception regarding suspension is that the intention is to suffocate/choke until death. When the rope is placed correctly compressing the carotid arteries, you would still be able to breathe whilst depriving the brain of oxygenated blood until death. It is entirely possible to render yourself unconscious without any discomfort.

You can practice by compressing your carotid arteries with your hands for just a couple of seconds. It'll take some practice to find your carotid pulse, but do it correctly, and you'll feel limp though you were still able to breathe normally with virtually no discomfort.

From the Suicide Wiki: "(Sauvageau et al., 2011) analyzed 14 filmed hangings in which rapid loss of consciousness had occurred in 10 ± 3 seconds and mild generalized convulsions in 14 ± 3 seconds." Within roughly ten seconds, you're done—your body just needs to remain untouched for the next coming minutes.

Both methods are highly lethal, but for the sake of simplicity and resources, most flock to suspension as their exit.

In the "old days" long drop did not always kill the person outright. They dangled like everyone else. You also need a chart and knowledge of your neck structure to get the correct drop. It looks good in the movies!
Full suspension gets the job done. Any discomfort will be for a short time and is the cost of dying early. There are no "painless" methods outside dying in your sleep.

Considering that most of us are already dealing with SI, I would not be going with a long drop. No reason to make it more protracted than it already is. Full suspension would be the best choice in my opinion. With a little bit of padding and keeping the noose at about face-level, you can do away with some of the discomfort and the 'drop'.

Hm These are all good pointd against full drop. But I kinda still wanna do it. Got the rope and everything ready, even made sure it's of length and thickness used in military hangings. Just the idea of neck go snap, severs brain stem and it's over for your most basic life support appeals to me. Then just strangle as normal in case your brain stem didn't get fucked. And even if you mess up somehow, Norma suspension will still do the job

My question would be 'what's the advantage of suspension over night night' as they seem much more similar (constriction of the blood flow to the brain) than suspension to long drop (which is about breaking the neck).

Night Night involves a lot of precision, you need to be able to find your "sweet spot" otherwise you won't achieve anything other than a pounding headache. You don't use a great deal of force with Night Night, where as with full suspension your body weight will make you die of strangulation if nothing else

it's a similar comparison between partial and full suspension
