Trigger warning - this post is pre-supposing some belief in the existence of an afterlife. If you do not believe in the afterlife feel free to read on but please refrain from using this thread as a place to debate whether or not it exists.
I've been reading these books:
The author is a medium and has posed a set of questions about the afterlife to 14 deceased spirits who were related to someone that was also present in the room.
One of the spirits is a man who CTB by gunshot so you actually get to hear his answers to a number of questions throughout the books which is interesting. In volume II there is a chapter specifically devoted to suicide, and surprisingly the author breaks up suicides into two categories:
"Early in my career .. I uncovered the astonishing reality that there were actually two types of suicides:
1 ..
2. Where the suicide was pre-planned prior to incarnation..
...
Those spirits who came through in interviews acknowleged indeed , some people were meant to cut their lives short -- not out of emotional trauma - although it might appear that way from the surface - but for the advancement of those left behind.
...
These people could actually be spirit guides coming to play that role, because it takes advanced awareness.."
It's interesting because I've never come across anything saying that suicide could be pre-planned and potentially positive. And I've read a ton of books about suicide. It's almost all negative. It's always portrayed as the ultimate unnatural act of either rebellion against God, rebellion against your 'soul contract', or rebellion against your biology.
But ultimately whether or not you think there is a plan for everything, if 1% of humans die by suicide, isn't it just part of the natural order to some degree? It would be expected that a conscious being that has:
-knowledge of life and death
-a finite tolerance for pain
-a limited lifespan in a body that a certain point becomes unfixable
This being would potentially commit suicide. If you designed/oversaw the world it wouldn't be like this crazy unexpected phenomenon. Oh damn 1% of people are killing themselves! This throws all our math off! We're going to have to increase female sexual desire by 0.3% to offset this unforseeable population loss! Quick - turn down the male pattern baldness by 5% - some of these guys need to remain appealing for the good of the species!
