I always feel bigtime pressure on my birthday to do it. People whose tombstones say the same date twice on them, I look at those in the cemetery with a little extra envy.
Blowing my brains out on my birthday. The weird thing about it is though I'm never depressed enough in December to do it. Peak suicide season for me is April through August. I'm kind of mad that it's waning now, but I know it'll be back. Still even now, I believe it's the best choice. But the urge to get it done isn't as much as it was back in the summer.

I turned 40 this year. To be honest, I'm surprised I made it this long.

Nah, we usually get more attention than normal during the week of our birthdays, it will make me anxious while preparing for the attempt. I'll choose another date, like the day that it became much more apparent to me that everything went south.

It will be hard for family either way. I suppose I will go during a month away from holidays like Xmas, thanksgiving. Considering I have not had a real holiday in years, I shouldn't care so much. But you know how it is. It's not about us is it.

I would have preferred do it on my birthday for similar reasons, but some folks have birthdays close to mine and I'd rather not cast a pall on those days for them.

It depends on if you want your death to be a message to others, and what kind of message you want it to be. Said message might be emphasized with a note, but I'm not sure that the birthday is specifically the one you need. It could be any day that you want to ruin for them.

Basically, that you might be able to find a more impactful day than your birthday. Christmas and New Year's Eve are the easiest picks. Your parents' anniversary would also be a good choice if you want to send an aggressive message to them.
