  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Pro lifers won't even bother to ask what is the problem. They think people kill themselves just because they had a bad day

Hmmm yeah my problem is severe heartbreak and I'm on year five of that as well as about ten years of trauma… I don't take advice from pro lifers, or advice from mentally ill people that recovered and got lucky. Both people in those categories are elitist and delusional

The thing is, I feel they do understand and they just don't care. They've been spoken to soo many times about the way they carry themselves and the way they speak to us and they do not care. At this point, I feel they act stupid and clueless on purpose

Even if that silly little saying were true, your "temporary problem" will only be replaced by another temporary problem, and then by another and another, and so on until you eventually die.

So that begs the question...why keep hanging around dealing with a never-ending cascade of problems, only to die in the end anyway?

Death robs you of the troubles and tragedies of life (of which no one is immune!) that otherwise would have befallen you if you had kept on living.

We all have a fundamental choice: existence or non-existence. Temporary consciousness or permanent unconsciousness...aka: life and death.

I mean in the end, it's STILL a solution.

And it's not like they're any help. I might as well solve my problems the only way I can.

I suppose that ageing with chronic pain is sort of a temporary problem. Only another few decades of pointless torture. But that fact does little to bolster an anti-choice argument.

Some problems definitely are. Some attempts and ctb are impulsively driven. They could have gotten other outcomes would the person wanted. However, there are emotional pain and situations we cannot escape from. Not everyone is resilient. I am sick of the head, that I can't fix. Regardless, dying is a decision. One should be able to stop and think throughly wheter that is what we truly want or if it is just because of a temporary problem. I respect every decision, but i also admire those who stop and think it through just to make sure it is the right step for themselves. I have been mentally sick since i was born, I wonder what life would have been if I wasn't.

This statement puts someones ignorance of full display, i had a teacher who said that and i told him your ignorance is on full display when you make statements like that. Before you decide to paint all suicides with a broad bush maybe you should talk to suicidal people before you decide if someone else is making the decision because of a temporary problem. This was before my issues set in and i was kind of leaning pro life, but i always wanted pas to be legal, and have never had that level of ignorance.

The thing that I have a problem with is life itself so of course the only solution for me would be to die. Non existence is ideal to me as the dead are incapable of suffering. To die would remove the cause of all the problems in the first place. Why endure life all for no purpose just to die anyway eventually. All problems are completely unnecessary, if we were never born we would have no problems.

It makes me want to go even more as it makes me realised these people do not understand my life and are just saying so they can feel they have done a good thing for the day. They don't care and they never will. I feel as if im trapped in my room all alone, nobody understands and nobody ever will.

Well life is temporary as well and ends with death. The pro-choice argument is just to be in charge of saying: ok I experienced this enough. I am done.

But for some its a permanent problem.
These people think that a problem necessarily has a solution, when it does not. Sometimes there is nothing to do, no solution except magical powers, going back in time or whatever.

To play the devil's advocate, sometimes it is true that ctb is sometimes a permanent solution to temporary problems

The issue arise when it IS a permanent problem (financial ruin, incurable disease, etc), mental issues are a bit more tricky because hard to tell if just because of a temporary emotional disturbance or a actual mental illness.

I would say that provided the person tries to correct the situation or theirs health(give it like 3 months to a year) and they still cannot get better I say that it perfectly valid reason to ctb

How is a progressive motor neuron disease with a narcissistic mother and loveless father a temporary problem? Instead of supporting me, I'm sent on a guilt trip that I'm a liability cause I'm eating up a lot of money that they could use for their business. With me out of the picture, they will have more money and more time to enjoy life.

However, if by "temporary" you mean my slow agonising death as I struggle with viscous chronic pain while I loose my dignity, then I agree with you. But then you are void of any empathy and compassion to spare someone from physical, psychological and emotional torture.

100000 traumas unprocessed, being mentally ill since I know myself as person, born with a broken family, never being able to make good and healthy relationships and being paranoid 'bout losing my dog (the only thing that keeps me here)
Permanently f*cked by people who never loved me properly
So, no MY LIFE IS NOT F****NG FIXABLE
I SCREWED EVERYTHING

I think everything screwed you...

I bet everything would be fixable with compassion & solidarity

But that's not the world we had...

I want out... I have a mountain of bureaucracy crushing me just for a tiny thing. Just a rat running on a wheel in a maze ..

I want out...
