Do you know about suicide in fictional stories? I don't watch or read much fictional but sometimes I read/watch about suicide in those stories. Pro-Lifer say suicide is too often heroic in these stories. I like japanese stuff and I remember people who are described as losers (no success in love/job just as me) who ctb. However there is sometimes a seppukku reference and then suicide becomes honorable. (Lol you have to do this crazy shit in order to be honored). I have not watched 13 reasons why but it allegedly caused the Werther effect more young people were interested in suicide. Don't know how it was portrayed but I am sceptical towards many productions. I suspect they cannot show the complexity of suicide in those shows.
I once read many fictional stories like Infinite Jest and other stories of DFW. The author later commited suicide. I think he described the problem pretty acurrately.
I think it is difficult to portray it the right way. Many stuf is too sensational when I think about it. Many people don't wanna read sad stuff and extreme misery. It does not fit in their world view.
