Suicide awareness at work.

All around the office since the beginning of the month there has been a ton of suicide awareness flyers, events, pins and other nonsense. I hate how people pretend to care about suicide until it comes time to actually help someone who wants to die. My job is one of the main reasons why I want to die and I hate my job and I feel so useless all the time because of it. This is just insult to injury.

It's just like greeting people with "How are you?" and prayer. It's not for you, it's for them. Humans are disgustingly selfish. Most people don't care about being good to others or actually helping them, they just want that momentary rush of "I did something!" or relief of "I did absolutely everything within my power. Oh well! Not my problem anymore!" Feeling like they didn't "win" the situation is unbearable to them. If you aren't going to feel better, then they just want to make sure they feel good/better and move on. We're in the Golden Age of Narcissism witnessing the death of Empathy. Why actually do anything? That a requires care and effort. Just come up with some slogans and shame the people that need help. That's much easier and it validates their views and opinions.

Bleugh, I'm not looking forward to coming into work tomorrow and seeing this. Granted so far this week I haven't actually seen anything around the workplace pertaining to 'R U OK Day', I'm expecting a mention of it tomorrow and possibly a brief morning meeting to talk about it like we have done in previous years. It's all performative virtue-signalling bullshit and it's cringe as fuck. My job is also one of my main reasons for wanting to die and I seriously doubt my coworkers are the types of people who would give a rat's ass about mEnTaL hEaLtH aWaReNeSs or whatever.

Company wants to pretend that they care about suicidal people to improve their public image or just were told to by management because it is popular to do so so they do. But i bet not a single fuck was given in the end as long as someone does not hang themselves in the office.

Yea, I was out of the office for ten weeks and not one person in my department asked me about how I was or what happened. I don't want their pity or sympathy but I hate to see them suddenly care about suicide

It all operates on fake empathy. The feeling of doing something right so they feel better about themselves, and so that when you finally CTB they "weep" and act like they feel guilty for their own conscience and sake. So they feel human, and better about themselves. All of this shit is pointless, solves nothing

Workplaces are the worst. They fired me for my suicidality/suicide attempt, which is obviously not meant to be legal but since they're such a big corporate company there's not much I could do about it
