I'd really appreciate your advice!

I'm going to San Francisco in a couple weeks to go on a reconnaissance mission. Haven't a clue how to do it. Here are my ideas. I'm learning all the lingo now. For example, Gray Stuff (aka Grey Death) is the best for CTB. I'm learning about how much is needed. I'm getting test strips for Fentanyl and Xylazine. I don't want Xylazine A lot of the Fentanyl has a lot of other stuff with it. I'm really interested in the patches. Enough patches put on the body at one time - and even chewing the patches - can be lethal. I'm going to get a burner phone to have on hand so if I make contact with a dealer, I can communicate with him or her and trash my phone before I CTB. I don't want anyone getting into trouble and going to jail. I'm older and will look like some suburban grandma. So, maybe I'll dress down. I'll carry pepper spray too. And if I carry money, I'll put it in my shoes or in a well concealed money belt. I doubt I'll score on my first outing. I want to establish rapport with my source. Do you have any pointers?

This is very difficult. I've wondered the same thing. I live near a big city. If I wanted something like this I would have no idea where to go. If I found the right neighborhood I wouldn't know who to approach or what to say. I'll caution you about something. In my state if you have an illegal substance charging you with with "possession with intent to distribute" (a felony) is based on quantity you have - not intention. So if you buy too much and get caught you could go to prison for a very long time.

WOW!!! Thank you SO much for telling me this. So important to know. That just scared the daylights out of me. I'm so glad you found my post and responded. So, if I bought a box of the patches and got busted, I could go to jail.

I'm also in a similar situation. I'm in a stereotypically rough city. Thankfully I'm a somewhat clocky trans girl who sometimes gets mistaken for being homeless. So not exactly suburban grandpa.

I'm not a stranger to my city, but i am a stranger to buying drugs on the street.

And I'm particularly scared of being hate crimed and shit, after a terrible situation that happened earlier this year. Honestly, if it weren't for the fear left over from that incident, I'd just go to the gnarliest neighborhood i could find and ask random guys who looked like they would know.

That totally sucks that you had a bad hate crime experience. The hatred towards trans people in the US is getting much worse. I can't imagine what that must be like. Yeah, I thought of going down a more deserted street and seeing who seemed approachable. I could drive my ratty old car and dress down. Maybe I can find a grizzly looking older woman who could give me some pointers. And pray she doesn't steal my car and rob me blind.

Sucks that getting fentanyl is so difficult and dangerous because I'm looking into how to get it myself if possible. It's very important that I come up with some kind of peaceful way out because I have a friend who is in very serious pain all the time and they can't get out of bed so if I help them exit I have to leave this world with them which is dangerous enough as it is, but to also try to buy a street drug to do it with would add a whole new layer of risk to it. I'm at a loss here because I don't know what to do.

Dark web is the best option in terms of personal safety and legit drugs. But I'm not very good at using it lol

I could try the dark web and have the fent shipped to a PO box or something, just to make sure I can get it without getting into too much trouble. I live with my dad and don't want to have him discover that I ordered a lethal drug like that because I can't be bothered to explain to him what it's for and would likely be put in the hospital ASAP if he found out. Sucks that I have no where better to live than this.

As somebody who's lived in a stereotypically "hood" city my whole life, I'm telling you, the "dangerous" aspect of living in the hood is hugely overstated by people who aren't from there and use it as a boogieman.

Before weed was legal, I used to just go up to completely random people who looked like they might have some, and low and behold, they did.

Especially if you are a man, just go up to whoever looks like they might have connections, and the worst thing you're gonna get is a "the fuck are you talking about?" type response. Nobody is going to just randomly attack you for walking around. Especially if you don't have anything valuable on you. If you are a woman, assuming you aren't in a completely secluded place, the worst you're going to get is some crass sexual harassment. Honestly, even as a trans woman who is like... mostly passy, but still a little bit clocky, I in no way expect to be just physically attacked at random outside in broad daylight, regardless of whether they know I'm trans. I just can't handle the risk of aggressive transphobic harassment and the long-lasting dysphoria that comes from it.

Rich folks buy drugs all the time. So a rich or middle class person wondering around the hood looking for a plug is not unheard of.

The biggest problem is the thought that YOU could be an undercover cop or some trouble maker who isn't truly a fiend looking for a fix.

I'm also, AND PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG, not really worried about cops at all. Cops looking through my stuff is not an every day occurrence, and I don't plan on keeping the pills on my person or in my car when/if I finally obtain them. I'm also not worried about the odds of the random person who I approach actually being an undercover cop (if they were actively advertising themselves on the internet, or posted up at a known drug market, then that would be a different story). Besides, California has diversion programs for suicidal people if they're caught in possession of drugs they attempt to kill themselves with. As well as diversion programs for people caught with pills in general, who are addicts, and don't have a prior criminal record, which I luckily don't have.

Katalina is right on the money.

It actually really isn't difficult at all.

This post is also kind of funny to me (as funny as this can be…) as I've done the exact same thing, only with basically the other two major cities in the PNW.

I thought I answered this! Thanks for all the information. I'm not really concerned about being physically hurt. I used to live in a sketchy neighborhood and felt quite comfortable. I was in the Mission in San Francisco yesterday, where I expected to see a lot of people bent over on Fentanyl. But, only saw a couple. And they were way too wasted for me to approach them. There weren't any dealer types. It was strange. I need to go into the Tenderloin district where they are everywhere. It is GRIM. I would definitely stand out as an older white lady. I'll try. I do NOT want to get ripped off by someone who picks up on my ignorance. They could sell me fake stuff or F cut with an amphetamine. I didn't. bring money this time. I think I want to get phone numbers and make connections that way. I don't know... If I could just sleep, I wouldn't want to end my life. It's all so damn sad.

I actually stayed in the Tenderloin last year. The Riviera Hotel on Ellis and Jones. It was pretty wild and lives up to its reputation.

I was actually crossfaded as fuck after Folsom Street Fair ended. My bf fell asleep in the hotel, so I was just kinda alone exploring the streets. I am a 30 year old skinny white girl, allegedly pretty, and I was wearing the sluttiest outfit I could with like volleyball shorts and a see-through mesh top. I also had like 300 sharpie signatures on my body, because that's what me and my bf were doing during FSF. So that might have made me less approachable.

That was also the night that Bad Bunny was revealed to be the Super Bowl halftime show performer for 2026, so I was on my phone hooting and hollering to all my friends in excitement. All I had in my system was THC and alcohol, but I'm sure I looked like... idk a crack head or something. Worst thing that happened to me was some old guy like reached out and tried to touch me as I walked by, but I just looked at him like "tf" and that interaction was done.

It was harder core and denser with people than any area I really hang out in in Stockton, but I'm still left with the impression that the ghettos of the world are just not as scary as sheltered suburbanites would have you believe.

I wish I could go back in time and be able to live a life where I'm not wanting to kill myself every other day.

WOW, that could be a short story. That was quite fun to read. Sounds like you pretty much fit right in actually. The reason I mentioned so much about protecting myself is because I wanted ward off responses like Be Careful! Don't Get Mugged! I used to live in the City and feel safe in that regard. I just don't know how to approach drug dealers. THAT I'm not experienced with. And I've aged since I last lived in the City.
DO write a story on your experiences. I love picturing you with all those seemingly inexplicable sharpie marks...

By the way, I wrote about it elsewhere, but I did successfully purchase fentanyl (M30 pills) about 2 weeks ago.

I literally just went to a hood-ish area and started asking people who looked like they would know where I could get some. The first person said he didn't know where, but that they might have it at a specific park a few blocks away. Second group of people I asked, at that park, had a guy who said he knew where I could get some. We were both on bikes, so we biked like 5-10 minutes away to some random duplex (it was actually right on my daily route to and from work, so I biked by this house hundreds of times before). The guy who brought me there told me to wait across the street so it didn't look like somebody was waiting in front of the house. About 5 minutes after that guy went in, he ushered me over and I went inside and bought 15 M30s for $50. I asked him what all was in it, and he said as far as he knew, only fent. I also had a harm-reduction test kit designed to test for fentanyl in non-fentanyl pills. I used it to confirm that the pills were in fact fentanyl.

I had zero concern that the random grubby people I was talking to at the park were cops, because I knew the cops had better things to do than just hang out at the park looking like drug addicts. I was surprised that they didn't seem to have any concern that I was a cop. I lied and told them that my friend and I used to do what he called "dirty 30" pills that had fent in them (a name I learned about from Google), and that now that my friend was gone, I needed to get more of them. Interestingly, one of the memorable responses I got was a guy said "Your friend is gone? Like he died?" with genuine empathy and concern. But I told him that my friend just moved.

The closest thing I got to harassment or comment on my appearance (which was my biggest fear) is that the 70 year old guy who I biked to the house with said "hey, I'll be your new friend", in like a half joking half flirting way I guess. I said "i just really want the pills' and he didn't flirt with me again. When we biked there, he was really chill and casual, just making small talk about how he used to do yard work in some of the houses in the neighborhood.

The inside of the dealer's house was also just like a really normal looking place. Though I'm under the impression that he may be both a user and a dealer. He was probably like 40. He asked if I wanted to do one of the pills there in his house, but I said nah, and he didn't have any further questions or worries that I was a cop. Told me to come back if I needed any more.

Obviously, I'm not dead unfortunately. I tried to kill myself with them two nights in a row. The first night, I took like... maybe less than a pill (i crushed two of them in order to test it, so I'm not sure how much it really was). I really bought into that "one pill can kill" bullshit. I guess the "can" in that slogan is doing a lot of heavy lifting. The second night, I took the remainder of the 2 I crushed up (so like 1-1.5). Then I put 13 of them in my mouth to let them disintegrate. A friend I was on the phone with ended up crying, so I spit them back out into the bag and they were like half as big. So I probably took the equivalent of 6.5 pills.

Weirdly, I didn't get high at all. Not even slightly. But I started getting clumsy, and I was convinced from knuckling my head a little bit that I was physically numb (the originally intended effects of fent). Eventually, the worst that I got was weird shakes. My friends demanded that I go to the ER. And I caved. In the ER, they told me my vitals were all normal. They also told me that if fent was gonna kill me, it would kill me within the first hour or so of me taking it. (I was already like 2 hours in by the time I got to the ER).

When they told me I wasn't going to die, I burst into tears a bit, and they asked me whether I was truly taking them recreationally. I just lied and said I was, I doubt they believed it though. I just didn't want to have to be 51/50d on top of everything else.

Yesterday night, I went back to the dealer's house to buy more fent, but he said he had ran out of the M30s.

Haven't seen anyone selling Fentanyl on the dark web. I think vendors are not allowed to sell it, maybe? You can still buy it somewehere on there, i'm sure.

Putting fent patches on your body is a bad idea. When fentanyl goes through the skin it has to go through many filters in the body before it reaches the brain. The patches are probably already used too, so you don't really know how much is still left in them.

Then better do your purchases not in 1 time but divide it over a couple times
