Sublingual refers to the pharmacological route of administration by which substances diffuse into the blood through tissues under the tongue.
Many drugs are absorbed through sublingual administration, including cardiovascular drugs, steroids, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, opioid analgesics and tincture of cannabis. Some proteins, as well as vitamins and minerals, are also administered sublingually.
Electrolytes and rehydration salts often come in tablets or powders you can administer in such manner. Looking through a few articles it seems salts such as SN could be absorbed faster into the blood stream, avoiding the risk of vomiting. Because the amount of substance you can administer is very little (2-5g), the substance tastes unpleasant and is an irritant, this wouldn't work as a stand alone method, but rather to boost the chances of your attempt working along the standard procedure of SN, or lessen the rate of vomiting it out.
In order to further compatibilize the two, buffers have been proved to increase the efficiency of sublingual administration and may benefit the method.
I am in no way a professional and this is simply a concept I pieced together, that more well-informed people could look into. Feel free to correct me or leave any input.
