Venting Stuff that people say to gaslight you when you tell them that you're ugly

Even if you are harmed by looksism and don't benefit at all the worst part is that you can't help but participate in it too.

I was going to meet the family of a friend I had once upon a time (didn't happen for other reasons) and she told me that she was worried about me meeting her brother because "he wss attractive and could be terribly shallow." Lol. What the fuck? To this day that stands as one of the most outrageous things I've been told. Unfortunately in one of our final interactions (for other reasons) I brought it up a few years later because it ate at me but that just led to useless conflict.

You'd think her brother would have been happy his suffering sister had such a supportive advocate and friend in me but nooooo....that's not as important as the fact that I didn't have Abercrombie model looks like him.

It's strange. I have run into many guys who think they're ugly, etc., but when I tell them I find them attractive and would absolutely date them, I rarely get any interest.

Sure, I'm also a guy, but the point still stands. If I find them attractive, doesn't it stand to reason other people will, too?
