Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

The experience made me even more suicidal. I felt trapped and miserable for
nearly 3 weeks. Had to lie in order to get out.

I still feel bad for the patients. I've never seen so much suffering in my life.
I don't understand how the workers are able to stay sane inside that building.

I'm just so tired of it all.
I wish I could go back to being a shut-in and mind my own business.

But I can't afford that lifestyle anymore.
I feel like a fish out of the water.
Staying alive is exhausting

Psych wards sound like such awful places to me that just cause people to suffer even more, I'm not surprised that it made you wish to die even more.

I thank the heavens I did not seek help when everyone told me to. It's such bullshit because they harm you and leave you in a worse state. Never ever seek help again OP

I kind of considered asking for help, but I believe I read somewhere that they will hospitalize you until you're "ready" for help before even treating you. Sounds like some bull. Sorry to hear that your experience was so upsetting. That sounds horrible

"ready" for help
Yeah, I've heard this before.
In the context of being denied trauma therapy myself.

It is indeed bull. Please don't fall for it.
How are we supposed to get better without any help?
What does ready mean, how long can we wait?
Do we live 200 years?
Do we *want* to live that long?
Does the world stop for us?
Does our life stop for us?
No.

It's just a way to pass off the problem, they don't wanna/can't deal with it, but are trying to put it "nicely".

Denied trauma therapy?? Do they just pick and choose, I'm so sorry

and I agree, I want help NOW that's why I made the choice to be committed (or why someone made the choice to involuntarily commit me). I just hear crazy stories about being in a snow-white room with nothing, no escape. Nothing to do. That would drive me equally mad, I think

I've been before (multiple times).
The more recent, the more terrifying.
I'm guessing the older you are, and the more extensive your medical record is, the worse they treat you.

I remember the second time.
It was almost like you just said.
Simply put away.
I wasn't even given any programs, therapies, doctor, anything, unlike the other patients I saw going to things scheduled for them.
Just exist. Be gone, do nothing.

They even spontaneously, without any forewarning or prior discussion, tried to make me take some sedative I'd never heard of or taken before, *four* times per day, because I'm "anxious all the time".
I refused to take it. What the hell.
Of course I'm anxious!
Who wouldn't be if they were practically imprisoned with nothing to do, no idea what's happening next, or when they're getting back out?
How stupid do they think I am... ?

Sorry if this is a bit too emotional.
But this is a massive pet peeve of mine, psych wards *can* be really damaging.
Almost like the jails for society's most vulnerable, ironically, without any of the basic protections/rights criminal defendants tend to have.
I hate to think of others having to go through similar experiences.

I've been considering trying out therapy or telling someone something to get myself committed to see if it'd help but every single experience I've read on and off this site has been at best neutral and at worst debilitating

It's terrible that all of the things that are advertised to 'help' deppresion and suicidal ideation seem to be useless and people suffer more by being put through them.

Same.

They're indifferent and/or callous. The ones with conscience tend to struggle.

When I was as in one I saw a team of therapists/psychiatrists very seldom. Short sessions that didn't amount to much. One time I said that I was very bored, they said that was a good sign. Good sign of what? Lol. That was long before covid too so I can only imagine how much worse it is now, Canada has ruined its medical system into a joke.
