Here's a study [1] investigates the under-reporting of suicide with particular reference to differences between sex and age groups and the various modes/methods of suicide. The conclusion is that official suicide statistics produce a distorted view of the suicide population with relative under-reporting of females, particularly older females, and marked under-reporting of some causes of death, notably poisoning, drowning, self-immolation and jumping from a height. In the study, there were 536 deaths judged on the balance of probability to be suicidal in nature. Only 60% of these deaths received a suicide verdict and would therefore register in official suicide statistics. Only 40% of poisoning cases received a suicide verdict.

The fact that it's every 25 failures and 1 success.. makes me more concerned about going through with it.. it must be something special being the chosen one. However, besides this, the rate is sad. You know that supports are failing people when this is the rate. I'm not saying all supports -- sometimes families and friends, mental health services. Not all of them are failing, but there are plenty. Some do try
