I'm reading conflicting view on using either potassium nitrite or sodium nitrite, and I have both of them. Can anyone help explain if either of them is a preferred way to go. I had decided on SN, but then today I read a posting that it can have a 7-day delayed effect (with terrible physical damage), which contradicts everything I have read about it taking effect in about 40 minutes. Thank.

The sodium nitrite method has been considered reliable since its introduction on Dutch television on September 1, 2017.

According to the most recent update of the PPH 2024, potassium nitrite (KNO2) is just as effective as sodium nitrite.
