When I see people shaming others who want access to MAID (etc.) or are expressing their desire for a peaceful death I lose all hope. No empathy whatsoever. It is so easy for the general population to turn a blind eye to the gruesome methods people are forced to go through, or the awful end-of-life moments that many in Hospice go through as drugs can only do so much. I hate it all. People are okay with others suffering in extreme amounts as long as it's not them. These people do not want compromise, they want to get rid of the service altogether.

This society is just retarded, like always it used to be.
We're still only apes after all.
Unfortunately if you want to die, you're alone, no one is gonna help you the way you want to, they consider it more logical to suffer for years and go through all of that stress and anxiety and boredom and abuse instead of simply ceasing to exist, we impose life on people and then consider selfish those who want to quit this meaningless addiction game.

It makes me SO MAD. I spend hours and hours ranting to myself about it every week. (Yeah, I know.) I'm in shock that society thinks this is what's best for us--that this is what we deserve. It breaks my heart every day that the average person feels this way. Sitting smugly by in their perceived moral superiority, witnessing our teeth gnashing and wails. Sure, some of them are very sorry we suffer. Oh, so sorry. So much compassion. But it's the type of paternalizing compassion that is utterly otiose. They're sorry, but they won't endorse the necessary thing.

This has really emphasized for me that it's every fucker for themselves out here. No one else can be you. They can't face your consequences. They can't inhabit your flesh prison even if they wanted to. They can't take on the burden of your consciousness for a micro-instant. Yet they want the authority over it. And they have it.

The argument that it will be used to target the vulnerable assumes that the vulnerable are incapable of knowing what they want. We are infantilized and treated as lesser, incoherent beings. Gosh, I hate it. Taking away MAID (etc.) will not target the other injustices of the world. The United States has no nationwide assisted death and the vulnerable still live in poverty and struggle to survive in the system. Get rid of the program, sure, but know that it will change absolutely nothing. Sorry for the incoherent ventā€“ it was mainly an addition to your own. I think about this daily.

The concern is that MAiD will make things even worse for the disabled, and it's the only anti-MAiD argument I sympathize with. But I don't want to turn my nose up at an overdue human right and wait to see if the government gets around to solving other crucial shit--like poverty--first. (Don't roast me for it, but I personally don't even know how feasible that is.) I mean, should we desire for Canada to get rid of abortion rights in the hope that it will result in subsidized child care instead?

Just wanting some peace

It's just inhumane how we cannot leave this existence in peace, in fact it's criminal to me how suicide is purposely made as difficult as possible, it disgusts me how trying to die involves risks and complications with the chance of suffering even more from a failed attempt.

I just hate how humans create so much harm with making suicide this way, nobody should have to continue existing in this hellish reality if they don't wish to and anyway it's absurd to me saying that suicide is "bad" as it's the choice to find relief from suffering, there's nothing bad about being unable to suffer anymore in an existence that was unnecessary in the first place, all the problems started when existence did.

It makes this world feel like a prison to escape. Imagine telling a child all the great things about life and then saying "but if you ever find that you no longer like this magical experience called Life, you can never make the choice to leave. You can only leave when your body gives out."
